Xu Cao is a Visiting Student Researcher at Stanford University and a CS PhD Candidate at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he is co-advised by Prof. James M. Rehg and Prof. Jimeng Sun. Driven by his personal history as a former pediatric rare disease patient, Xu co-founded PediaMed AI to pioneer AI technologies tailored for pediatric healthcare. His research sits at the intersection of multimodal LLM post-training, agentic AI, and social embodied AI, with a strong focus on developing clinical applications like pediatric foundation models and AR smart glasses.
