Cassie returns to the Program in Writing and Rhetoric in 2016 after holding an appointment as Assistant Professor of English and Writing Program Administrator at Southern New Hampshire University (2015-2016). She has been a Lecturer in the Program in Writing and Rhetoric since 2013. In her recent PWR courses, "Rhetoric of Sport" (PWR1) and "Rhetoric of Sport-in-Development" (PWR2), Cassie invites students to analyze how we talk about sport and why it matters in both local and global contexts. She is the author of the composition textbook Sport (2016). She also collaborated with Edward M. White to update the national writing teacher's guide Assigning, Responding, Evaluating 5th ed. (2016). She has published in Rhetoric Review and the Journal of Writing Program Administration, among others, and received a $7.5k grant over two years to work with a small team to produce the podcast Rhetorically Speaking.

Her ongoing research interests include histories of writing program administration and educational literacy practices and policy, with a particular interest in the history of higher education, academic freedom, free speech, and diversity of thought.
