Bio

Dr. Sankar's research focuses on human-AI interaction in healthcare, with an emphasis on understanding how clinicians engage with, evaluate, and integrate AI-enabled technologies into clinical reasoning, decision-making, and workflows.

Her current work examines clinician interactions with large language model (LLM)-based decision support systems, particularly the demands of AI-assisted decision-making, interaction trade-offs, and opportunities for human-centered design. She is interested in how AI systems can be designed and evaluated to support effective human-AI collaboration, preserve clinician agency, and improve decision quality while accounting for the complexities of real-world clinical practice.

Gaayathri earned her PhD in Business Administration from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where her doctoral research focused on developing a NeuroIS-based measurement model of cognitive engagement using eye-tracking methodologies. Drawing on her interdisciplinary background in management information systems and user experience research, she aims to advance a deeper understanding of human interactions with emerging technologies in healthcare, with a broader interest in their implications for care delivery and patient outcomes.
