Dr. Hsin is Director of the Hospice and Palliative Care Center at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System. His interests include palliative care education, global health, and compassion cultivation. Dr. Hsin is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Medicine. After completion of his family medicine residency and chief residency at West Suburban Medical Center (Oak Park, IL), he completed his subspecialty training in palliative medicine at Harvard Medical School's Center for Palliative Care. He is a certified teacher in the Compassion Cultivation Training program at Stanford’s Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE). Dr. Hsin has been involved in international health care efforts in Africa and Asia through the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Doctors Without Borders (MSF), and the Johnson & Johnson Global Health Scholars Program; he is a Fellow at Stanford’s Center for Innovation in Global Health.
