Bio
Gary Hsin, MD, is a Clinical Professor (Affiliated) and Chief of Palliative Medicine at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System. His academic and clinical interests include palliative care delivery and education, global health, and compassion cultivation.
Dr. Hsin earned his medical degree from the Northwestern University School of Medicine and completed his family medicine residency and chief residency at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, Illinois. He subsequently completed fellowship training in Palliative Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital through the Harvard Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program. He is also a certified Compassion Cultivation Training instructor through Stanford’s Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE) and the Compassion Institute.
Dr. Hsin has been involved in global health initiatives across Africa and Asia with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Doctors Without Borders (MSF), and the Stanford/Yale Global Health Scholars Program. He is a Faculty Fellow with Stanford’s Center for Innovation in Global Health.
