Bio

Gita Steiner-Khamsi is a visiting professor in the Graduate School of Education of Stanford University during her sabbatical leave. At Stanford, she is affiliated with the program International Comparative Education in the Social Sciences, Humanities, and Interdisciplinary Policy Studies in Education (SHIPS). She is professor of comparative and international education at Teachers College, Columbia University, New York, and holds, by courtesy, the UNESCO Chair in Comparative Education Policy of the Geneva Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Switzerland. A former president of the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) and former editor of the World Yearbook of Education, she published widely in the areas of policy transfer/policy borrowing, global governance, and qualitative/contextual comparative methodologies in education.
