Bio

Helen Dang is passionate about science communication and creating spaces where people across disciplines can connect. As Science Program Manager for the Stanford Department of Bioengineering, she supports department initiatives in partnership with the Chair of Bioengineering. At the heart of her work is a belief that science thrives when the people behind it feel supported. She partners with faculty to develop and execute community-driven programs, manages research funding initiatives, mentors graduate students and leads programming for the Stanford Synthetic Biology Initiative.

Helen is particularly drawn to the intersection of bioengineering and art. She is a co-recipient of a 2025 Stanford Burt McMurtry Arts Initiative grant and co-taught the Grow-Your-Own Biopigments workshop with Professor Jenn Brophy, where participants learn to bioengineer bacteria to produce pigments.
