Bio


Kian Katanforoosh is a CS Lecturer at Stanford University. He teaches Deep Learning with Prof. Ng in the Computer Science department. He is a founding member of deeplearning.ai and co-creator of the Deep Learning Specialization on Coursera. He participated in the creation and early growth of landing.ai.

Today, Kian leads the engineering projects at deeplearning.ai and the AI fund under the supervision of Prof. Ng. He develops industrial AI applications, and designs products to help people break into AI. From 2014 to 2016, Kian co-founded and co-led Asker, today known as Daskit, a French start-up developing ed-tech products for a range of French Universities.

In June 2017, Kian received the Walter J. Gores award for Excellence in teaching (Stanford’s highest teaching award.) He has a Masters in Management Science & Engineering from Stanford University and a Masters degree from Ecole CentraleSupelec (formerly Ecole Centrale Paris.)

Kian grew up next to Paris, and is passionate about French rap and football.
