Bio

Maria Luiza Rocha Bueno is a PhD student in Global and Comparative Education at Stanford University. Her research examines how grassroots social movements engage the State to advance alternative educational projects committed to social transformation, with a current focus on the Landless Workers’ Movement (MST) and teacher education programs in Brazil. More broadly, she is interested in critical pedagogy, popular education and alternative educational projects. Maria Luiza holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and an MA in Education.
