Bio

Nirav Atre is an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department, and a David T. Morgenthaler II Faculty Fellow in the School of Engineering at Stanford University. His research area is computer networking, and his interests broadly lie at the intersection of mathematical modeling and systems-building: fixing the ever-growing gaps in our “mental models” of networked systems, and using the resulting model insights to improve their performance, scalability, and robustness. His work has been recognized with a Google ML and Systems Junior Faculty Award, a French-American Doctoral Exchange Laureateship in Cybersecurity, Jay Lepreau Best Paper and Distinguished Artifact awards at OSDI, and CMU’s CyLab Presidential Fellowship. Prior to joining Stanford, he obtained a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University, and a B.A.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto.
