Bio


Roger Wise, EdD, joined as Director of the Additive Manufacturing and Prototyping Facility (AMPF) on January 17, 2023. He reports to Joseph DeSimone, PhD, Sanjiv Sam Gambhir Professor of Translational Medicine and Chemical Engineering and Director, Canary Center.

Before Stanford, Dr. Wise worked for Carbon Inc., providing education and team training to customers and employees in using the company’s cutting-edge 3D printers and resins. He graduated in December 2018 from the University of Southern California with a Doctor of Education in Organizational Change and Leadership. A career educator, Dr. Wise served K-12 students for 30 years as a science and math teacher, Dean of Students, Academic Dean, and Assistant Head of School. Organizing and leading student activities, such as team building via ropes course, domestic and international travel, and community service, remains one of the most satisfying aspects of his career. Outside work, he enjoys traveling with his family, sailing, and cycling. Dr. Wise can be reached at roger.wise@stanford.edu.

Dr. Wise is the Director of the Additive Manufacturing and Prototyping Facility (AMPF), a shared-user 3D printing center supporting Stanford University's research enterprise. AMPF currently consists of state-of-the-art, manufacturing-quality, commercial 3D printers (Carbon S2, M2, & L1, and Carbon Smart Part Washer). This advanced 3D printing facility brings digital design, prototyping, and small-scale production to the Stanford ecosystem. It serves as an integrated innovation hub, forming a key pillar of research and commercialization for investigators spanning the Stanford campus, Canary Center, and Silicon Valley.
