Ron Gawer leads the Energy Operations team at Stanford University.

He started his career in the US Navy’s Nuclear Engineering Program before shifting into the private sector with a rewarding career in constructing and leading operations of many energy facilities, including nuclear, combined cycle, co-generation, hydro, biomass, solar, and even wind.

In 2014, he joined Stanford to bring Stanford Energy System Innovations (SESI) from innovation through construction into an operational, award winning, district energy system centered on heat recovery powered by renewable electricity.

He oversees all energy supply and distribution systems at Stanford, including our two Stanford Solar Generating Stations that provide more than 100% of Stanford University’s electricity renewably, leading change by example and maximizing efficiency in the way we generate, store and distribute energy.
