Bio

Dr. Steven M. Henick is the Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery Fellow at Stanford University. He earned his medical degree with Distinction in Research from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY. Before medical school, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Society from Cornell University and graduated as a member of the Perpetual Dean's List.

During residency, Dr. Henick was an active clinical researcher and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in journals including the Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics, Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, and Arthroscopy Techniques. His work has been presented at conferences including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meeting and the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America Annual Meeting. His work mapping the femoral trochlea to stratify trochlear dysplasia severity won First Place at the Montefiore Einstein Selznick Research Day, and his research on non-operative management of first-time patellar dislocations earned Third Place at the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation Northeast Regional Resident Research Symposium.

Dr. Henick has also been recognized for his contributions to education. He previously served as a Teach for America corps member and taught middle school mathematics in Goose Creek, South Carolina. In medical school, he received the Ruth L. Gottesman Award for Excellence in Medical Education for his role restructuring the clinical curriculum during the COVID-19 pandemic. In residency, he received the inaugural Karen W. Pryor Award for resident education for his work in surgical skill simulation and teaching medical students one-handed knot tying.

Outside of work, Dr. Henick enjoys hiking, reading, and following his hometown teams including the New Jersey Devils, New York Liberty, and New York Sirens.
