Thomas Sandholm

Bio
Thomas received his PhD in Computer and Systems Sciences from KTH in 2008 on "Statistical Methods for Computational Markets: Proportional Share Market Prediction and Admission Control". Prior to that he worked as a distributed systems consultant and developer at IONA Technologies and Argonne National Labs. After his PhD he joined HP Labs and continued work on distributed systems while also shifting focus to work on machine learning applications. Thomas was a visiting researcher at Lund University and KAIST working on health-care IoT, and AI appliances respectively. After HP Labs he joined Dell/EMC to work on a cloud-native file system product, and later joined a startup on IoT Wi-Fi sensing. He also worked as a researcher at CableLabs, where he investigated AI applications in wireless communication networks. Prior to joining Stanford he worked as a senior researcher at the Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE) leading research on distributed AI infrastructure sponsored by the Swedish National Space Agency. Thomas was also a key contributor to the itACiH Hospital@Home video and secure messaging solution deployed in many hospitals across Sweden.

I am a senior software architect and developer in the Division of Computational Medicine, Stanford School of Medicine, and a member of the Boussard Lab. I specialize in Translational Research Operations, helping make AI-based health-care research available for clinical use and patient care.
