Bio

Tobias Schmidt is currently pursuing dual Master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Management at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). He commenced his academic journey with a B.Sc. in Engineering Science from TUM, where he focused on the development and testing of carbon reinforced parts printed with a robot-based 3D printer under the supervision of the Chair of Carbon Composites. This early research ignited his passion for integrating advanced manufacturing techniques with innovative engineering solutions.

Intrigued by the potential of combining engineering and management principles, Tobias expanded his studies to include a M.Sc. in Management, focusing on Entrepreneurship. This interdisciplinary approach allows him to tackle complex engineering problems with a strong foundation in business and strategic decision-making.

Tobias's academic pursuits led him to Stanford University, where he is currently completing his thesis at the Center for Design Research. His research at Stanford explores the use-cases of autonomous mobile robots in the field of intralogistics.

In addition to his academic achievements, Tobias has gained valuable practical experience through internships at Tesla and BMW i Ventures. At Tesla, he worked as a Mechanical Engineer in the Supercharging Team, contributing to innovative solutions in electric vehicle charging infrastructure. His role as a Business Development Intern at BMW i Ventures involved evaluating startup technologies and identifying strategic investment opportunities, further bridging the gap between engineering and business.
