Bio
Adam Nayak will join Stanford as an Assistant Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering in Summer 2027. His research lies at the intersection of climate risk, stochastic hydrology, machine learning, and financial engineering with an emphasis on policy-forward systems modeling. Broadly, his work examines how the spatiotemporal organization of hydroclimatic extremes shapes risks of compounding and correlated hazards, with applications to urban infrastructure, natural disaster insurance, and renewable energy system resilience. Adam received his PhD from Columbia University in Earth & Environmental Engineering, and BS and MS from Stanford University in Civil & Environmental Engineering and Management Science & Engineering, respectively.
