Bio
Anita has over 10 years management experience working in the high-tech industry, and over 10 years working in academia identifying new opportunities and leading the development of successful, nationally recognized programs, organizations, and technologies. In 2018 Anita was the Bits & Watts Initiative Program Manager (within the now Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability), responsible for all business management for the initiative. She has also worked at Visa International, Adobe Systems, and two start-ups, one of which was purchased by Microsoft. From 2013-2019 Anita was the Program Director and Head Coach of the Mountain View High School Science Olympiad Program where she transformed the program and varsity team from taking next-to-last in 2013 at the regional tournament to winning 2nd place at the state championship in 2017, 2018, and again in 2019. Anita now works at the Stanford Center for Professional Development where she manages programs focused on clean energy, sustainability, digital transformation, and entrepreneurship.
Current Role at Stanford
Anita Wood works on both the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability (SDSS) External Education & Mobilization (EE&M) team and the Stanford Center for Global and Online Education team. She manages product development and program operations for the Stanford Online Energy Innovation and Emerging Technologies Program. Additionally, she oversees the development of courses and programs created by the SDSS EE&M team.
These courses cover a range of topics, including Strategies for Sustainability, Energy Storage, Water and the Circular Economy, the Economics of the Clean Energy Transition, Grid Integration, Electric and Hybrid Vehicles, and Wind, Water, Solar, and Storage for a Sustainable Future. The newest program is designed for board members, equipping them with essential knowledge spanning the science, business, and stewardship of sustainability.
