Bio


Athena Serapio is an event management professional with over a decade of experience working at Stanford University. Currently serving as Senior Event Manager at the Stanford Cancer Institute, Athena plays a key role in orchestrating and implementing high-impact events, such as the Curing Advanced Cancers think tank and the Breakthroughs in Cancer seminar series.

Her career at Stanford has included exciting roles like Conference Services Manager at the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment, where she organized various events, more notably the unique dialogues, and workshops that bring together cross-sector experts, decision-makers, and community leaders to solve a problem. Athena also helped coordinate major university events as the Event Registration Manager at the Stanford Alumni Association, contributing to the success of iconic gatherings like Senior Dinner on the Quad and Reunion Homecoming.

Before her time at Stanford, Athena sharpened her event-planning skills in the tech world at a boutique event-planning firm in San Francisco. She gained valuable experience at the University of California, Irvine, as a senior contract administrator for the Design & Construction Services department—where she led the public bid process for the renowned Sue & Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center.

Athena holds a B.A. in Communications from San Diego State University, with an emphasis on public relations and a minor in political science.
