    BioZohra Aziz began her journey at San Francisco State University. She obtained her Bachelors of Science Degree in Physiology and completed her Post Baccalaureate with emphasis in Public Health Studies. She completed her PA program at Stanford, and received a Masters Degree in Medical Science in 2015. Her clinical training has been at Stanford Health Care, Kaiser Permanente Redwood City, VA hospital Martinez, Valley Care Medical foundation, Valley Santa Clara and John Muir Medical group. She has also obtained surgical training in both Plastics and Cardio Thoracic surgery as First Assist. Zohra has been an APP for five years in the Department of GI/Hepatology, where she contributed in the development of the inpatient primary GI service. She has worked to develop mentorship program with her local community and currently participates in preceptorship of PA and NP Students.
    Zohra is involved with the APP General Council as Co-Chair Elect and other subcommittees of Stanford Hospitals and clinics.

She initially focused on complex neursorugical spine conditions. Since 2016 she has worked in the Santa Cruz Satelitte Center inpatient and out patient care. Her Inpatient duties include consult, examination, admission, operation planning and assist, inpatient management including patients in critical care, (managing drains, EVD), medication adjustment, lab and radiology ordering, review and interpretation, discharges, patient education. Vania's outpatient duties include consult, operation planning and assist, examination, symptom and medication management, lab and radiology ordering, review, interpretation, and patient education. She is a Certified Neurosurgical Registered Nurse, has completed her RNFA and Neuroscience Emergency Life support, as well as a Hemisphere 2.0 Stroke competency Series. She is Certified in Plant-Based nutrition. She has lectured on Neurosurgical topic regionally, nationally, and internationally.

    BioSarah Betts, MSN, BSN, ACNPC-AG, CCRN, SANE, is the Lead Advanced Practice Provider in the Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit. A Bay Area native she studied classical voice performance and was a professional stage manager-turned-event manager prior to transitioning to a career in nursing. She earned both her Bachelor and Master of Nursing degrees from Georgetown University in Washington DC, and worked at the VA Palo Alto prior to joining the CVICU team at Stanford. Desiring more education in Palliative Medicine, she worked on the in-patient Palliative Medicine team where she enjoyed focusing on each patient’s unique experience of what quality of life means, and working towards making sure the care they get aligns with their values and what’s important in their lives. She transitioned to the Lead APP in the MICU in 2020 where she is able to combine her critical and palliative care experience to provide holistic and timely care to critically ill patients during some of the hardest moments in their lives.

Dr. Biangone is an experienced director, scientist, and academician with more than 28 years in nursing and leadership roles. In previous roles, Dr. Biangone has served as Academic Director and Professor, Pre-Licensure Nursing Programs, Assistant Director & Director of Nursing of Public Health, and Vice President, Faculty Development.

    Dr. Biangone has a passion for exploring how students cope with stress, and anxiety as they traverse their educational programs.

    BioCharlene Chow, PA-C is a Physician Assistant with the Urologic Oncology Department at Stanford Healthcare. She is originally from San Francisco, but obtained her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies at Oregon Health & Science University in 2013 in Portland, OR. She has a background in thoracic surgery working with lung cancer patients at Providence Portland Medical Center from 2013-2015. She then returned to the Bay Area and started with Stanford Urologic Oncology in March 2016.

    She is the sole Urologic Oncology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) at the Cancer Center South Bay (CCSB) and specializes in urologic cancers including those of the bladder, prostate, kidney, ureter, testicle, and penis. Aside from seeing both new and return patients on her own and alongside physicians, she is also well versed in performing outpatient procedures such as prostate biopsies, cystoscopies, and bladder cancer treatments.

    Her clinical interest lies in quality improvement. She has successfully completed the Clinical Excellent & Leadership Training (CEPT) program at Stanford, and is constantly involving herself and others in ongoing process improvement projects.

    When she is not at work, she enjoys dance parties with her two young children, cooking, exercising, and spending time outdoors.

    BioLiz Fox is the Lead Advanced Practice Provider for Neurocritical Care at Stanford Health Care, Palo Alto, California. She holds a Masters Degree in Nursing and is board certified as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Advanced Neurovascular Practitioner, and Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist. Liz is also an assistant clinical professor in the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program at University of California San Francisco, assisting with the development and implementation of neuroscience focused content.

    Liz has extensive experience in acute stroke care, encompassing both clinical and regulatory aspects. She has been involved in the development of stroke systems of care as the past chair of the Illinois EMS Stroke Advisory Subcommittee and the Midwest Stroke Action Alliance. In her current clinical role Liz functions as a Nurse Practitioner in a neuro intensive care unit caring for ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes. From a regulatory perspective, she was previously a reviewer for The Joint Commission reviewing both Primary Stroke Centers and Comprehensive Stroke Centers.

    She remains active in her professional organizations; Liz is a Fellow of the American Heart/Stroke Association and serves as a member of the Stroke Council of the Cardiovascular and Stroke Nursing Board. She is also chair for the Advanced Practice Provider Committee of the Neurocritical Care Society. She has published on stroke nurse navigation models of care, is a writing committee member for upcoming aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage guidelines as well as nursing guidelines for ICU/Thrombectomy care. She has provided numerous lectures on stroke and ICU care at professional conferences. Liz is truly passionate about improving stroke care and educating those around her.
