Kimberly Allison

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsDr. Allisons clinical expertise is in breast pathology. Her research interests include how standards should be applied to breast cancer diagnostics (such as ER and HER2 testing), the utility of molecular panel-based testing in breast cancer, digital pathology applications and identifying the most appropriate management of specific pathologic diagnoses.

Christopher Almond
Professor of Pediatrics (Cardiology)
BioChristopher Almond, MD, MPH is Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Cardiology at the Stanford University School of Medicine where he is a board-certified pediatric cardiologist at Stanford's Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in Palo Alto, CA. His clinical and research interests are focused on pediatric heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, heart transplantation, and anticoagulation. He completed his training in pediatrics, cardiology, and a senior fellowship in heart failure/transplant at Boston Children's Hospital before before appointment as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School/Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Almond completed his MPH at the Harvard School of Public Health with a focus on statistics and epidemiology (study design for rare diseases) followed by a Medical Device Fellowship at the FDA in the Division of Cardiovascular Devices at CDRH. Dr. Almond moved to Stanford in 2014 where he currently serves as professor of pediatrics and directs the clinical research program within Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Therapies (PACT) Program. He also serves as Medical Director of the Children’s Heart Center Anticoagulation Management Program at Stanford (CHAMPS). Dr. Almond has a passion for collaborative research serving as PI for federally-funded multi-center clinical trials including the Berlin Heart ventricular assist device (VAD) FDA Trial that led to its FDA approval in 2011, the TEAMMATE (everolimus for heart transplant) Trial, the TROLLEY (Cardiohelp ECMO/anticoagulation RCT in heart failure) Trial, the NHLBI PumpKIN (Jarvik 2015 LVAD) Trial, and the SPOT BIAS Trial, an FDA-funded trial to understand racial/pigment bias in commercial pulse oximeters.

Emily Alsentzer

BioDr. Emily Alsentzer is an Assistant Professor in Biomedical Data Science and, by courtesy, Computer Science at Stanford University. Her research leverages machine learning (ML) and natural language processing (NLP) to augment clinical decision-making and broaden access to high quality healthcare. She focuses on integrating medical expertise into ML models to ensure responsible deployment in clinical workflows. Dr. Alsentzer completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital where she worked to deploy ML models within the Mass General Brigham healthcare system. She received her PhD from the Health Sciences and Technology program at MIT and Harvard Medical School and holds degrees in computer science (BS) and biomedical informatics (MS) from Stanford University. She has served as General Chair for the Machine Learning for Health Symposium and founding organizer for SAIL and the Conference on Health, Inference, and Learning (CHIL).

Dahham Alsoud, MD, MSc, PhD(c)

Visiting Postdoctoral Scholar, Pediatrics - GastroenterologyBioDr. Alsoud is a physician-scientist conducting postdoctoral research at the Rosen Lab, supported by fellowships from the Belgian American Educational Foundation and the Stanford Medicine Children’s Health Center for IBD and Celiac Disease. His research combines advanced statistical modeling and bioinformatics, leveraging multi-omics and longitudinal clinical data from the CAPTURE IBD cohort to uncover the molecular and clinical determinants of therapeutic outcomes. Through this work, he aims to reduce reliance on trial-and-error treatment strategies, strengthen evidence-based clinical decision-making, and ultimately improve outcomes and quality of life for individuals living with inflammatory bowel disease.
After earning his MD from Damascus University, Dr. Alsoud conducted his PhD research at KU Leuven, where he integrated clinical prediction, serum proteomics, and whole-blood transcriptomics to investigate treatment heterogeneity, therapeutic resistance, and response to advanced therapies in IBD. He also holds a Master of Science in Health Care Management and Policy from KU Leuven, reflecting his broader interest in designing efficient, patient- and provider-centered models of healthcare delivery. Dr. Alsoud serves as an Editorial Fellow for Basic and Translational Science at Inflammatory Bowel Diseases and has contributed to the peer review of more than 150 manuscripts in the field. -
Ramsha Altaf

BioI am originally from Pakistan and recently completed my bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, with my education taking shape across three institutions in Pakistan and the United States. I am now completing my pre-med prerequisites as I continue building toward medicine. As the first woman in my family line to pursue higher education in this way, education has always carried deep meaning for me.
My path has been nontraditional, and that has shaped the way I think about care, advocacy, and opportunity. Along the way, I co-founded a youth mental health platform and gained clinical experience in both hospital and outpatient settings, which strengthened my interest in patient-centered care and the systems that shape it.
At Stanford, I am involved in functional medicine, complex pediatric care, and senior care clinics, and I am also engaging with research through these experiences. Being part of these spaces has expanded the way I think about care across different stages of life and deepened my interest in medicine that is both thoughtful and advocacy-driven.
Long-term, I hope to pursue an MD–JD so I can both treat patients and advocate for them.
