Cynthia Nyongesa
Postdoctoral Scholar, Psychiatry
BioCynthia graduated from the University of California San Diego in 2026 with a Ph.D. in Computational Neurosciences. Her dissertation focused on multimodal digital biomarkers, using speech, virtual reality, and eye-tracking to detect Alzheimer's disease years before symptoms emerge. Growing up in Nairobi, Kenya, Cynthia developed an early passion for accessible healthcare, particularly for communities with limited access to advanced diagnostics. She is now a Postdoctoral Fellow in Dr. Ehsan Adeli's STAI Lab at Stanford, supported by the PRISM Baker Fellowship, where she is extending her work on passive biomarkers to gait, mobility, and neuroimaging.

Ruth O'Hara

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsDr. O'Hara's research aims to investigate how cognitive information processing deficits subserve affective symptoms in psychiatric disorders, and interact with key brain networks integral to these disorders. To do so, she has implemented a translational, interdisciplinary program that encompasses cellular models, brain and behavioral assays of affective and cognitive information processing systems in psychiatric disorders across the lifespan.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMy research focuses on population-based sleep and mental health epidemiology, including insomnia, hypersomnolence, narcolepsy, idiopathic hypersomnia, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and pain. I also develop and apply AI-assisted structured diagnostic interviews, including Sleep-EVAL/Ad-Infer, to improve phenotyping, differential diagnosis, longitudinal follow-up, and the study of comorbidity in large populations.
