David Furman

BioDavid Furman is the Director of the Stanford 1,000 Immunomes Project and the Buck Institute Artificial Intelligence Platform. Dr. Furman obtained his Doctoral degree in Biochemistry and Immunology (summa cum laude) from the School of Medicine, University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, for his work on cancer immune-surveillance. During his Postdoc at the laboratory of Professor Mark M Davis (Stanford), he conducted cutting-edge research in Data Science and Systems Immunology to answer scientific questions with strong potential for translational medicine, including the effect of aging, gender and common viral infections in immune system functioning. Dr. Furman’s work focuses in Data Science applied to inflammation and aging. Before joining as an Adjunct Investigator at the National Scientific and Research Council (CONICET), Buenos Aires, Argentina, Dr. Furman was Senior Scientist at the Institute for Immunity, Transplantation and Infection (ITI), Stanford, and his work involved the use of high-bandwidth/high-throughput technologies and Machine Learning tools to better define the health of the human immune system and its implications on age-related disease.

BioAdam Furst, JD, MS, is a Biostatistician of the S-SPIRE Center. Adam received his master's degree in biostatistics from the University of California (Davis), and his law degree from the University of Colorado (Boulder). He has served as a biostatistician on various grant-funded studies and clinical trials working with diverse teams including statisticians, doctors, surgeons, radiologists, dosimetrists, epidemiologists and other investigators. He is passionate about collaborative research to advance data and evidence-based practice in medicine and healthcare policy in general.

Staff, Psychiatry and Behavioral SciencesBioDr. Furst is a Clinical Associate Professor (affiliated) of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and of Neurology and Neurological Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine. He is a Principal Investigator and Director of the California War Related Illness and Injury Study Center (WRIISC) Advanced Fellowship Post-Doctoral program and Associate Director of Neuroimaging. He is also a Senior Research Scientist at the Polytrauma System of Care (PSC) at VA Palo Alto Health Care System. Dr. Furst serves as Associate Editor for the journal Frontiers in Neurology and is a member of the editorial board of NEUROLOGY. His research focuses on chronic multisymptom illness, traumatic brain injury, sleep, pain and neurodegenerative diseases.
