    BioDr. Ioannidis earned his Ph.D. from Stanford University in Computational and Mathematical Engineering together with an M.S. in Management Science and Engineering (Optimization). He graduated summa cum laude from Harvard University in Chemistry and Physics and earned an M.Phil at the University of Cambridge from the Department of Applied Math and Theoretical Physics in Computational Biology. His research focuses on the design of algorithms and application of computational methods for problems in precision health, genomics, clinical data science, and AI in healthcare.

    BioI am a clinical pathologist and assistant professor in the Departments of Medicine, Pathology, and Genetics (by courtesy) at Stanford. I completed my MD-PhD training at Yale University and my residency training and a post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Genetics at Stanford University. My experiences as a clinical pathologist and genome scientist have made me passionate about applying cutting-edge technologies to primary patient specimens in order to characterize disease pathologies at the molecular level. The core focus of my lab is to study the mechanisms by which genetic variants influence the risk of disease through effects on intermediate molecular phenotypes.

Respected worldwide for his work in gene therapy for hemophilia, Dr. Kay and his laboratory focus on establishing the scientific principles and developing the technologies needed for achieving persistent and therapeutic levels of gene expression in vivo. The major disease models are hemophilia, hepatitis C, and hepatitis B viral infections.

    BioI am a member and former Chair of the Department of Health Promotion, in the School of Public Health, in the Faculty of Medicine at Tel-Aviv University, former director, and founder of the Integrative Medicine Center & Research Laboratory at the Tel- Aviv Medical Center, and Head of the Health Promotion Unit in the Integrated Cancer Prevention Center. My training is in cellular biology, integrative medicine, intervention research, and health promotion science. I received the Outstanding Israeli Researcher for Complementary and Integrative Medicine award. The goal of my research is to unravel the biology, physiology, and psychology of health promotion approaches and translate findings into interventions that effectively target salutogenic mechanisms underpinning the biopsychology of well-being. I initiated the "lasting change" study and will co-lead this project in my current role as visiting scholar, at Prof. Michael Snyder's Lab, a global leader in precision health at Stanford University.

    Current Research and Scholarly InterestsThe Li Lab is primarily interested in RNA editing mediated by ADAR enzymes. We co-discovered that the major function of RNA editing is to label endogenous dsRNAs as "self" to avoid being recognized as "non-self" by MDA5, a host innate immune dsRNA sensor, leading us to pursue therapeutic applications in cancer, autoimmune diseases, and viral infection. The other major direction of the lab is to develop technologies to harness endogenous ADAR enzymes for site-specific transcriptome engineering.

    Current Research and Scholarly InterestsThe research focus of the laboratory is the study of sleep and sleep disorders such as narcolepsy and Kleine Levin syndrome. We also study the neurobiological and genetic basis of the EEG and develop new tools to study sleep using nocturnal polysomnography. Approaches mostly involve human genetic studies (GWAS, sequencing), EEG signal analysis (deep learning), and immunology (narcolepsy is an autoimmune disease of the brain). We also work on autoimmune encephalitis.

    BioHetanshi Naik is an Associate Professor in the Department of Genetics and the Research Director of the MS Program in Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling. She is a board certified genetic counselor and clinical researcher with clinical expertise in the inborn errors of heme biosynthesis, the Porphyrias, lysosomal storage disorders (LSDs), and pharmacogenomics, and research expertise in clinical trials, patient reported outcomes (PROs), qualitative methods, and study design.

    Her research interests include developing and evaluating PROs for genetic disorders and genomics, in particular assessing PROs as outcomes for clinical trials, pharmacogenomics implementation, and genetic counseling education and processes, as well as utilizing digital health technologies to improve clinical care, genetic counseling, patient reporting, trial efficacy, and outcomes.

In another project, we are developing the small sea anemone Aiptasia as a model system for study of the molecular and cellular biology of dinoflagellate-cnidarian symbiosis, which is critical for the survival of most corals but still very poorly understood.
