Rachyl Leonor Pines

BioRachyl Pines PhD, focuses on improving the patient experience and increasing provider professional fulfillment through coaching, consults, and communication trainings. Rachyl conducts and oversees research and evaluation to add to the body of knowledge on relationship-centered care and communication in healthcare.
Prior to joining Stanford, Rachyl was a Research Scientist at Cottage Health Research Institute at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital where she supported pediatric, behavioral health, population health, women’s services and RN-led research at the hospital. Her other experience includes a brief postdoctoral fellowship with the Terasaki Institute for Biomedical Innovation and UCLA, focused on patient education and equity in renal replacement therapies and a Visiting Researcher position with Tufts University School of Medicine. She also serves as an executive officer for the International Association of Language and Social Psychology.
She received her MA and PhD in Communication from University of California, Santa Barbara with a focus in health communication. Her dissertation focused on training healthcare staff to better communicate with aggressive patients to prevent workplace violence. In addition, Rachyl has received grant-funding for international projects about intercultural differences in patient preferences for decision-making power with their providers. -

Jena Pizula, MD
Clinical Assistant Professor, Medicine - Cardiovascular Medicine
BioDr. Pizula is a quadruple board-certified, fellowship-trained cardiologist with Stanford Health Care Cardiovascular Health. She is also a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. She completed a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at the University of Southern California (USC) Keck School of Medicine.
Dr. Pizula specializes in cardio-obstetrics. She works with women before, during, and after pregnancy to determine their risk of heart-related pregnancy complications and improve their cardiovascular health. She has experience managing complex cardiovascular conditions, including congenital heart disease, arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, valvular disease, and cardiomyopathy. Dr. Pizula develops a customized care plan for each patient she treats. As a leader in cardio-obstetrics, she’s at the forefront of the latest advances in women’s cardiovascular care.
Her research interests include the intersection of cardiovascular disease and pregnancy. She focuses on how pre-existing conditions like congenital heart disease, cardiomyopathy, or hypertension affect pregnancy. She has also explored how physiological changes during pregnancy affect existing heart disease and long-term cardiovascular risk. She uses her unique dual background in internal medicine and pediatrics to study how adult manifestations of cardiovascular disease impact pregnancy outcomes.
Dr. Pizula is active in teaching medical students, internal medicine and obstetrical residents, and cardiology fellows. She teaches them strategies to improve how they assess and manage risk and deliver postpartum care to people with high-risk cardiac pregnancies. Dr. Pizula is the director of the Finishing School for Future Cardiologists for the California chapter of the American College of Cardiology, which offers leadership development to cardiology fellows.
Dr. Pizula’s research has been published in the Journal of the American Heart Association, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, The Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation, Journal of General Internal Medicine, and Pediatrics. She has authored three book chapters on cardio-obstetrics and global emergency medicine.
Dr. Pizula has presented her research at conferences in the United States and internationally. As an expert in cardiovascular disease and pregnancy, she is frequently invited to speak to cardiologists, obstetricians, and anesthesiologists at the International Congress on Cardiac Problems in Pregnancy. She currently serves as a reviewer for the European Journal of Heart Failure and Heart Failure Reviews.

Klaus Porzig
Emeritus Adjunct Clinical Professor, Medicine - Oncology
BioKlaus Porzig is an Emeritus Adjunct Clinical Professor at Stanford. He was active in Stanford’s clinical oncology program from 1979 until 2008. He was an Attending Physician on the Oncology inpatient service (MED III initially and then MED X) annually from 1979 until retirement in 2008. He was active in the breast cancer program during those decades. Dr. Porzig was a founding partner in South Bay Oncology in 1979 which became part of the Stanford Cancer Center in the Southbay after his retirement. He was a member of the council of the California Breast Cancer Research Program from 2006-2010 and served as the Chair of the CBCRP council 2008-2009. From 2013 to 2021, he was a member of the Stanford Medicine Alumni Association Board of Governors and served as chair of the Awards Committee during that time. Klaus has been a docent at Stanford's Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve since 2018.

Peter Poullos

Clinical Professor, Medicine - Gastroenterology & HepatologyBioDr. Poullos is a native of Stockton California. He earned his B.S. at Santa Clara University and M.D. degree at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, after which he did an Internal Medicine residency at the University of California-San Francisco, finishing in 2002. He stayed at UCSF as a Gastroenterology fellow until 2004. However, after a spinal cord injury, he decided to retrain in Radiology. He did his Radiology residency at Stanford University, where he also completed a fellowship In Body Imaging in 2009. Dr. Poullos is now faculty in both the departments of Radiology and Gastroenterology and Hepatology. His clinical practice is at the Stanford Medicine, where he specializes in CT, MRI, and ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis. His interests include radiology of the acute abdomen, hepatobiliary imaging, and colorectal cancer screening.
Dr. Poullos is the Founder and Co-Chair of the Stanford Medicine Alliance for Disability Inclusion and Equity (SMADIE), a group composed of people with disabilities and their allies at Stanford Medicine. In that role, Dr. Poullos advocates for students and healthcare providers with disabilities and for health equity for disabled patients. He is a Faculty Advisor to the Stanford Medical Students with Disability and Chronic Illness (MSDCI) and the MSDCI National organizations. Dr. Poullos and SMADIE have made significant contributions to the disability community, including starting the Stanford Conference on Disability in Healthcare and Medicine, drawing over 1000 participants from 39 countries. He is the Co-Host of the popular “DocsWithDisabilities” podcast, has spoken internationally about disability access in medicine, and has written and researched in the field. One of his proudest achievements is co-creating the Disability in Medicine Mutual Mentorship Program, serving the needs of disabled medicine and healthcare students and practitioners. Angela Primbas, MD

BioDr. Angela Primbas is a board-certified, fellowship-trained internal medicine doctor with Stanford Health Care. She is also a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Primary Care and Population Health at Stanford University School of Medicine.
As part of Stanford Concierge Medicine, Dr. Primbas provides individualized primary care built on a strong patient-provider relationship. She specializes in geriatric medicine and is experienced in both inpatient and outpatient primary care settings. She is especially interested in providing preventive care and treating health concerns related to healthy aging, longevity, bone health, and postmenopausal aging.
In every aspect of her practice, Dr. Primbas emphasizes compassionate care, taking the time to listen to and understand each person’s needs. She is also passionate about working with medically underserved populations, including individuals in the LGBTQ+ community.
Dr. Primbas studies how health systems can improve their approach and training to serve marginalized groups better. She also focuses on enhancing medical education for students and residents. Dr. Primbas cofounded Stanford Ambulatory Care Excellence, a program that supports internal medicine residents with opportunities to improve the skills needed to provide excellent primary care. She has also created and taught curricula on geriatrics, healthy aging, osteoporosis, and LGBTQ+ health.
Dr. Primbas has published her research in peer-reviewed journals, including AIDS Care, Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, and Journal of Investigative Medicine. She has also written book chapters about LGBTQ+ health in older adults, published in Clinics in Geriatric Medicine and Geriatric Review Syllabus, and on the diagnosis and management of headaches in older patients. As an advocate and collaborator, Dr. Primbas has shared her research and medical expertise around the world, including at meetings of the American Geriatrics Society, the American College of Physicians, and the International Association of Providers of AIDS Care.

Krishna Pundi

BioKrishna Pundi, MD is a cardiac electrophysiologist and health services and outcomes researcher with a clinical interest in the management of ventricular arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation.
Dr. Pundi leads a multidisciplinary research program to study (1) clinical and arrhythmia-specific factors that predict cardiovascular risk for ventricular arrhythmias, (2) the interplay of frailty and obesity with atrial fibrillation outcomes, and (3) the role of digital health and wearables in arrhythmia care. He has led grant-funded research through the NIH, FDA, and ACC and collaborations with large device and quality databases including AHA’s Get With the Guidelines. He has a special interest in innovation and regulatory science, having organized national Think Tanks of patients, investigators, and FDA to define the scientific and clinical use of wearable monitors. Dr. Pundi holds leadership roles through the American College of Cardiology, Heart Rhythm Society, Cardiovascular Sciences Research Consortium, and HRX - an innovation-focused meeting of clinicians, researcher, and industry. -

Orlando Quintero, MD

BioDr. Orlando Quintero is a board-certified, fellowship trained internist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. He is also clinical assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, at Stanford University School of Medicine.
As a clinician, Dr. Quintero diagnoses and treats infectious diseases in immunocompromised patients. This includes the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infections in patients who are immunosuppressed because of Solid Organ Transplantation, Bone Marrow (Hematopoeitic Cell) Transplants, Hematologic Malignancies, Chemotherapy for Solid Tumors, HIV who receive Chemotherapy, Solid Organ or Bone Marrow Transplants Immunomodulators for Auto-Immune Diseases and other forms of immunodeficiency.
Dr. Quintero has published on topics including coronavirus in kidney transplant patients, prevention of cytomegalovirus in heart transplant patients, and prevention of urinary tract infections in renal transplant patients. His work has appeared in publications including Transplant Infectious Disease, Emerging Infectious Diseases, and the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation.
He has delivered presentations at meetings of organizations including the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, and American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. Topics of his presentations have included prevention of cytomegalovirus, prevention of recurrent urinary tract infections, Chagas disease in New York City, and more.
Currently, Dr. Quintero is conducting research on treatment of patients with COVID-19, prevention and treatment of invasive fungal infections of the gastrointestinal tract in immunocompromised patients, and the epidemiology of invasive fungal infections in heart transplant recipients.
Among his awards, He has received honors for his teaching and research from Albert Einstein College. He also has earned recognition from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the American Society of Transplantation.
Dr. Quintero’s volunteer community service includes participation in health fairs to promote HIV testing and hypertension control, plus disease management in the Garifuna population in New York – descendants of an Afro-indigenous population from the Caribbean island of St. Vincent.

Afrin Kamal Rahman MD MS

BioDr. Afrin Kamal Rahman (previously known as Dr. Kamal) is a Clinical Associate Professor of Gastroenterology at Stanford University School of Medicine. Her health services research interests focus on developing and testing communication tools to improve the patient-care provider experience. She has authored 50+ peer reviewed publications and is an NIH funded research. Dr. Rahman is a principal investigator for a K23 grant awarded by the NIDDK to develop and test a mobile health application tool for patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
Dr. Rahman is co-chair of the Young International Society for Diseases of the Esophagus (ISDE) and serves on several committees as part of American College of Gastroenterology and American Foregut Society. She is also an associate editor for Diseases of the Esophagus and director of the Esophageal Virtual Collaborative, an on-line platform with a mission to discuss complex challenging cases in benign esophageal disease among colleagues cross-nation.

Sameer Raina, MD, MBBS, MBA, FACC

BioDr. Raina is a board-certified cardiologist in the General Cardiology clinic at Stanford Health Care and a member of the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute. He is also a clinical associate professor in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine.
His clinical interests include preventive cardiology, cardiac rehabilitation, and sports cardiology. In his recent positions at West Virginia University, he established the cardiology telemedicine program during and after the COVID pandemic. He applied his passion for cardiac rehab by creating individualized treatment plans for college athletes recovering from COVID. Dr. Raina is also passionate about building relationships with community doctors. He believes continuous communication is an essential part of excellent patient care.
Dr. Raina’s current research focuses on preventive cardiology, cardiac imaging, and outcomes research. He studies the outcomes of different cardiac interventions in specific patient populations. His research helps identify appropriate treatments for patients who have other conditions in addition to heart disease.
Dr. Raina eagerly anticipates joining the faculty of the Stanford South Asian Translational Heart Initiative (SSATHI). He is excited for the opportunity to address the high risk of cardiovascular diseases among South Asians. He looks forward to applying his clinical and research experience to support SSATHI’s mission to provide advanced care to ethnic populations disproportionately affected by these diseases.
Dr. Raina is a peer reviewer for several prestigious publications, including Neuropsychiatric Disease and Treatment and the International Journal of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. He has also been an invited guest speaker at national and international meetings, including those for the International Congress of Cardiology and the World Congress of Cardiothoracic-Renal Diseases.

Rishi Raj
Clinical Professor, Medicine - Pulmonary, Allergy & Critical Care Medicine
BioDr. Rishi Raj is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Stanford University, where he directs the Interstitial Lung Disease program. He has practiced pulmonary and critical care medicine for over two decades and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of interstitial lung diseases.
His primary clinical interest encompasses a range of interstitial lung diseases, including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, other idiopathic interstitial lung diseases, drug-induced interstitial lung diseases, interstitial lung disease associated with connective tissue diseases such as scleroderma, rheumatoid arthritis, dermatomyositis, sarcoidosis, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, and other various interstitial lung diseases. His other clinical interest is acute respiratory failure associated with interstitial lung diseases, and Dr. Raj attends regularly in the medical intensive care units.
He is a principal investigator and co-investigator in numerous clinical trials, examining new therapies for treating idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and other interstitial lung diseases.
Dr. Raj's current research focuses on the use of radiologic biomarkers to predict outcomes in various interstitial lung diseases, and leveraging large language models in clinical research. -
Shriti Raj

BioShriti is an Assistant Research Professor in Stanford’s Center for Biomedical Informatics Research and a Junior Faculty Fellow at the Institute for Human-Centered AI. Her research focuses on developing and evaluating human-centered decision-support techniques to help patients and clinicians make health data and algorithms actionable. She is particularly interested in creating tools to support the use of wearable health data and studying their impact on chronic condition management.

Meghan Ramsey

BioDr. Meghan Ramsey is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine. She received her undergraduate degree from Lafayette College in Pennsylvania with a major in Neuroscience. She then attended Stanford University for medical school where she stayed to complete her internal medicine residency, and pulmonary/critical care fellowship. Her clinical time is split between the inpatient setting in the medical ICU and the ambulatory setting in Interventional Pulmonology with a focus on thoracic malignancies. Outside of her clinical time she has a dedicated commitment to teaching, serving as a mentor for residents and fellows, as well as leading as a co-director the pulmonary physiology course for medical students.

Julia D. Ransohoff

BioDr. Ransohoff received her B.A. from Harvard College in Human Developmental and Regenerative Biology and completed her medical training at Stanford University, where she received her M.D., completed residency in internal medicine, and fellowship training in hematology and oncology as part of the American Board of Internal Medicine Physician Scientist Training Program.
Dr. Ransohoff is a physician-scientist dedicated to improving breast cancer treatments and outcomes through developing genomic methods to profile how tumors respond to treatment. Her research focuses on molecular approaches to understand the variable clinical responses of breast cancers to treatment at the genomic level by profiling molecular residual disease. Her current work involves exploring mechanisms of chemoresistance and immune evasion and identifying novel therapeutic targets. In related work, she also studies epidemiological risk factors for breast cancer mortality with a focus on the gut microbiome, oncofertility, and racial and ethnic differences in treatment response. Dr. Ransohoff's research has been supported by the ASCO Conquer Cancer Foundation, the Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation, the Stanford Cancer Institute, ECOG-ACRIN, and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.
As an Instructor in the Division of Medical Oncology, Dr. Ransohoff is also a clinically active oncologist, treating patients with breast cancer. -
Vishnu Ravi

BioDr. Vishnu Ravi combines his expertise as a board-certified, practicing internal medicine physician, senior software engineer, and board-certified clinical informaticist to create transformative solutions for healthcare.
As the Technology Architect for Stanford Medicine Catalyst, the Stanford School of Medicine's flagship innovation program, he designs, develops, and implements innovations including AI-driven platforms for Parkinson's care, chronic cardiovascular disease management, and precision pharmacogenomics that are helping patients receive more personalized and effective care.
At the Stanford Mussallem Center for Biodesign, Vishnu helps lead the center's digital health initiatives spanning education, research, and translation. To support this work, he co-founded Stanford Spezi, an open-source framework and ecosystem for building modular, standards-based digital health solutions that is now used by leading healthcare institutions and companies worldwide.
Vishnu also instructs Stanford's CS342/MED253 Building for Digital Health, an innovative course that brings together computer science, engineering, and medical students with clinical faculty to develop real-world healthcare applications. In 2025, he helped lead the international expansion of this program, with a successful launch at Chalmers University of Technology and University of Gothenburg in Sweden. He is also deeply involved in the effort to weave AI into the medical school curriculum at Stanford.
Vishnu's entrepreneurial experience includes co-founding a TechStars-backed startup and developing COVID-19 solutions deployed internationally. He has pioneered clinical AI applications, creating conversational agents and advanced analytics for unstructured health data, while contributing to international mobile health data standards. He serves as a technical consultant to companies including Google and speaks regularly at industry conferences.
Alongside his technology work, Vishnu maintains his connection to clinical practice as an Internal Medicine physician providing comprehensive primary care to a diverse patient population at Stanford Health Care. -

BioRisheen Reejhsinghani obtained her medical degree in Mumbai, India, followed by an internal medicine residency at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Boston, MA and cardiology fellowship at Baystate Medical Center/Tufts University School of Medicine, where she served as one of the chief fellows. She subsequently completed an advanced echocardiography fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco, and is board certified in echocardiography, general cardiology, and nuclear cardiology.
Dr. Reejhsinghani practices as a general cardiologist in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine, where she also serves as the associate director for the hospital-based consultative cardiology service. As a clinical cardiologist, she believes strongly in the tenets of evidence-based practice, diagnostic cognizance, and patient education. She also has a specific interest in the burgeoning field of Cardio-Rheumatology, focused on cardiac diseases among patients with rheumatologic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, and ankylosing spondylitis, among others. Her clinical research in this area has focused on the evaluation of structural cardiac disease and diastolic dysfunction in ankylosing spondylitis patients, primarily using echocardiography.
Dr. Reejhsinghani has an academic focus in medical education, and believes that instilling a love for bedside medicine and the physical exam is the soundest way to empower future generations of learners. To this end, she received additional training in clinical teaching and simulation at the University of California, San Francisco, and has worked extensively on curriculum and course design. She currently serves as the associate program director of the cardiovascular medicine fellowship at Stanford, and is an associate course director for the Year 1 Practice of Medicine Course at the Stanford University medical school. Dr. Reejhsinghani also enjoys writing, particularly about medical education and has written articles for international newspapers, among other publications. -

BioI am a social epidemiologist and serve as a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Population Health and in the Department of Medicine in the Division of Primary Care and Population Health. I joined the faculty at Stanford School of Medicine in 2011.
I am Director of the Stanford Center for Population Health Sciences. In this position, I am committed to making high-value data resources available to researchers across disciplines in order to better enable them to answer their most pressing clinical and population health questions.
My own research is focused on understanding the health implications of the myriad decisions that are made by corporations and governments every day - decisions that profoundly shape the social and economic worlds in which we live and work. While these changes are often invisible to us on a daily basis, these seemingly minor actions and decisions form structural nudges that can create better or worse health at a population level. My work demonstrates the health implications of corporate and governmental decisions that can give the public and policy makers evidence to support new strategies for promoting health and well-being. In all of his work, I have a focus on the implications of these exposures for health inequalities.
Since often policy and programmatic changes can take decades to influence health, my work also includes more basic research in understanding biological signals that may act as early warning signs of systemic disease, in particular accelerated aging. I examine how social and economic policy changes influence a range of early markers of disease and aging, with a particular recent focus on DNA methylation. I am supported by several grants from the National Institute on Aging and the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities to develop new more sensitive ways to understand the health implications of social and economic policy changes. -

Cybele A. Renault, MD, DTM&H, FIDSA
Clinical Associate Professor, Medicine - Infectious Diseases
BioDr. Renault has devoted her career to caring for vulnerable patient populations, both domestically and overseas. She completed her medical school and residency training at the University of Chicago, caring for underserved patients on Chicago's South Side, followed by a Chief Resident year at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, the public hospital serving the uninsured in Chicago. She began her career in global health as an Infectious Diseases fellow at Stanford, validating low-cost HIV diagnostics in Burkina Faso, and providing clinical service and teaching in India and Zimbabwe as a fellow, and later in Thailand, Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya as one of our Infectious Diseases faculty. Her clinical work is focused on caring for our veteran population, working to empower veterans to engage in their care, often in the setting of significant mental illness.
Dr. Renault is most passionate about medical education and program development to combat global antimicrobial resistance through antimicrobial stewardship, to create opportunities for the Internal Medicine residents centering on caring for vulnerable patient populations, and to develop impactful and sustainable programs in collaboration with our low- and middle-income partners for our Center for Innovation in Global Health. She served as Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program for 4 years prior to transitioning to her current role as Program Lead for Global Health, for which she leads the Global Health Track for the Internal Medicine residency program and develops global health initiatives for the Department of Medicine. She co-founded and has been director of the Stanford 2-week intensive global health course since its inception in 2012, she has structured trainee and faculty rotations based on evolving needs of our partner sites in Uganda, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, and Sri Lanka, she is the faculty lead for the ID/antimicrobial stewardship partnership between Stanford and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret, Kenya through the AMPATH Consortium, and she is leading Stanford's Internal Medicine virtual case-based education initiative to support our newest medical school partner in Negele Arsi, Ethiopia.
Dr. Renault strives to augment Stanford's contributions and support for underserved patient populations in the United States. She established resident rotations in Shiprock, New Mexico and Chinle, Arizona through the Indian Health Service, and she is Faculty Advisor for the Internal Medicine Health Equity, Advocacy and Research concentration in the residency program. She also aspires to improve resources for women physicians. In 2016, Dr. Renault established the GME Women in Medicine Leadership Council, with the intention of creating community and encouraging conversations about professional and personal life decisions as women in the field of medicine. She is passionate about mentoring through sharing personal experiences, creating an environment that encourages reflection, and building skills to address challenges unique to women in medicine.
In 2022, in recognition of her passion for medical education and her success in program development, Dr. Renault was asked to join the leadership at Palo Alto Veterans Health Care System as Deputy Associate Chief of Staff for Education. In this role, she works with rotation directors to optimize their respective rotations to offer robust educational opportunities for trainees across specialties who are rotating at the Palo Alto VA. -
Kavita Renduchintala

BioKavita Renduchintala, MD is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Hospital Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC) and completed her residency training in Internal Medicine at LAC + USC Medicine Center in Los Angeles.
Dr. Renduchintala’s clinical background includes caring for hospitalized patients across a range of internal medicine settings. Before joining Stanford, she worked at the University of Chicago, where she provided both general medicine and oncologic hospitalist care. She has also held roles in oncologic hospitalist medicine at Moffitt Cancer Center and in surgical co-management at Keck Hospital of USC.
Her academic interests focus on medical education, with a particular focus on transitions that occur during medical training. She is dedicated to supporting trainees and enhancing the learning environment in academic hospital medicine. Her research has also explored vaccine uptake among cancer survivors. -

BioDr. Riaz is advancing biomarker-driven precision medicine in breast cancer through innovative clinical trials that integrate cutting-edge therapeutics and molecular insights.
Her research focuses on circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) to detect minimal residual disease (MRD) in early-stage breast cancer, aiming to guide personalized treatment strategies. She is also developing novel approaches to enhance immunotherapy efficacy by modulating the tumor microenvironment, including early-phase trials that combine immunotherapy with radiotherapy. As an Assistant Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine, Dr. Riaz is committed to ensuring that these next-generation therapies are accessible to all patients.. -

BioDr. Stephen Richmond is a family physician, educator, and health justice advocate with specific interest in racial equity in medicine. He currently serves as a clinical assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Primary Care & Population Health (PCPH) in the Stanford Department of Medicine. He completed his A.S. at Solano Community College, B.A. in Molecular & Cell Biology at UC Berkeley, M.P.H. at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and his M.D. at David Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA. He is a graduate of the UCSF-San Francisco General Hospital Family & Community Medicine Residency Program. Current Research and Scholarly InterestsI am interested in the prevention and control of critical care-related illnesses and complications, including ventilator-associated pneumonia, spread of nosocomial infections, and prognosis of multiple organ system failure in intensive care units. Infections and complications of therapy in immunocompromised hosts, including effects of chemotherapy and hematopoetic stem cell transplants is another interest.

BioDr. Farhana Rob is a board-certified, fellowship-trained family medicine doctor with Stanford Health Care. She is also a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, Primary Care and Population Health at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Dr. Rob provides personalized and compassionate primary care for people ranging from newborns to older adults. She specializes in women’s health and maternity care, managing conditions such as heavy menstrual bleeding, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and gestational diabetes. She also has expertise in birth control, discussing and providing options particularly for adolescents and postpartum mothers. Dr. Rob also specializes in minor injuries and musculoskeletal problems, providing therapies such as laceration repair, tendon and joint injections, and trigger point injections.
Dr. Rob emphasizes preventive care and early diagnosis through routine and diagnostic screenings. She strives to empower them to become active participants in their health care. Dr. Rob has published research on heart failure in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology. She shared her findings on using ultrasound to estimate birthweight at the American Academy of Family Physicians Family-Centered Pregnancy Care Conference. She has also written about heavy menstrual bleeding for The 5-Minute Clinical Consult, a physician guidebook that focuses on evidence-based medicine.
