BioKevin Thomas is an MD/PhD dual degree candidate in the NIH-sponsored Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP). He has a PhD in Biomedical Informatics. His research focuses on the development and application of machine learning methods for human mobility data including medical imaging, wearable sensor measurements, video, and kinematics collected from lab-based motion capture systems. He has developed open-source software and web applications used by researchers across the country to accelerate their study of mobility-related diseases.
Before attending Stanford School of Medicine, he was a Fulbright Scholar in Canada where he conducted research on the use of wearable sensors and machine learning for the assessment of sports performance in elite sprinters and basketball players in collaboration with Adidas. He has also worked with the Philadelphia Phillies Major League Baseball team, conducting player analyses and statistical modeling to support front-office decision making.
