BioDr Sayar Kumar Munshi, MBBS, MS (General Surgery), MCH (Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery), is working as a Visiting instructor in the department of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Research. He did his medical schooling from Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research (IPGME&R), India. After MBBS, he did his post-graduate training in General Surgery from Calcutta National Medical College and post-doctoral training in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery from Nilratan Sircar Medical College, India. He has worked as an Associate Consultant in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery for four years in Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi, India. He pursued advanced fellowship training in Congenital Cardiac Surgery from United Kingdom. He has worked as a Senior Clinical Fellow in Congenital Cardiac Surgery in Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Liverpool and as a Clinical Fellow in Adult Congenital Cardiac Surgery (ACHD Surgery) in Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital for a year. Subsequently, he underwent fellowship training in Cardiac transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support in Pediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiac Surgery from Freeman Hospital, Newcastle Upon Tyne NHS Foundation Trust, UK.

Yoshikazu Ono
Visiting Instructor/Lecturer, Cardiothoracic Surgery
BioYoshikazu Ono is a pediatric cardiovascular surgeon who is board certified by The Japanese Board of Cardiovascular Surgery.
He graduated from Nagoya City University in 2015 and began his internship at Nagoya City East Medical Center. He then completed his residency in cardiovascular surgery at the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center. He completed a fellowship in pediatric cardiovascular surgery at the same institution after a three-year residency.
His main interests are congenital cardiac defects and mechanical support in children. He is dedicated to improving the safety and durability of surgical treatments and ventricular assist devices for these patients. -

Yellappa Palagani
Postdoctoral Scholar, Cardiothoracic Surgery
BioYellappa Palagani is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Stanford University. In Dr Ma's lab, he is developing an MRI-compatible mock circulatory loop using cardiac phantoms to simulate complex congenital heart defects, an ex-vivo preservation system for pediatric heart transplantation, and an adjustable pulmonary artery band for managing congenital heart diseases. Before joining Stanford, he was a Postdoctoral Associate in Adult Cardiac Surgery at Yale University from April 2021 to March 2023, where he worked under the supervision of Pramod Bonde, MD, on left ventricular assist devices and smart inductive stents. In August 2020, he received his PhD in Electronics Engineering from Kyungpook National University, South Korea, under the supervision of Jun Rim Choi, PhD. During his doctoral program, he worked on wirelessly powered cardiac pacemakers and wearable cardiac arrhythmia indicators.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMechanism of allograft rejection for the heart and, lung; late chronic effects of rejection, such as graft coronary, atherosclerosis in the heart and bronchiolitis obliterans in the, lung; treatment of rejection, including pharmacologic agents, total, lymphoid irradiation, and the induction of tolerance in fetal, animals; clinical studies include the results of lung and heart-lung, transplantation, modification of immunosuppressive protocols, and, factors contributing to late chronic rejection.
