    BioI develop computational algorithms including AI/ML and statistical methods to discover insights at various resolutions of the biological hierarchy i.e., molecules, cells, tissues, organs, organism and population-scale.
    In my current role in the laboratories of Paul Khavari and Howard Chang I conduct bioinformatics research to study the molecular mechanisms of tissue development, cancers, autoimmunity and chronic diseases using multiomics, with a focus on the non-coding genome.

    I have ten years of academic research experience and received my Ph.D. in Data Science specializing in AI/ML development for diverse topics in biomedicine.
    My research interests include artificial intelligence to identify novel patterns in multiomics data, psychometrics and neuroimaging data; structural bioinformatics and computational epidemiology. Additionally, I have conducted research in anomaly detection, and community detection in biological networks.
    I am the co-inventor of a patented anomaly detection method for real-time streaming data.
    Prior to graduate training and academic research, I was a full-stack software engineer in industry for three years.

    Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMy laboratory is focused on two primary areas of research: (1) the immune response to head and neck cancer and to a tumorigenic population of cells within these malignancies called cancer stem cells; (2) the developmental programs of a special lymphocyte population involved in innate immunity called natural killer (NK) cells; and (3) intra-tumor and inter-tumor heterogeneity.

    1. Skin cancer:
    - New therapeutics to treat and prevent non-melanoma skin cancer, especially by targeting the Hedgehog signaling pathway for BCC tumors
    - Genomic analysis of drug-resistant cancers
    - Identifying risk factors for skin cancer in the Women's Health Initiative

    2. Epidermolysis Bullosa: gene therapy and protein therapy to replace defective/absent Collagen 7 in children and adults with Recessive Dystrophic EB

    BioJoyce Teng, MD, PhD is a professor in dermatology at Stanford University. She is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Lucile Salter Packard Children's Hospital (LPCH) at Stanford and Stanford Hospital and Clinics (SHC). She received her medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and has been in practice for more than 12 years. She is one of the 6 pediatric dermatologists practicing at LPCH and one of 72 at SHC who specialize in Dermatology. She sees patients with rare genetic disorders, birthmarks, vascular anomalies and a variety of inflammatory skin diseases. She is also an experienced pediatric dermatological surgeon. Her research interests are drug discovery and novel therapy for skin disorders.

    BioAruna Venkatesan, M.D. is Chief of Dermatology and Director of the Genital Dermatology Clinic at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, a teaching county hospital, and is Clinical Professor of Dermatology (Affiliated) at Stanford. Dr. Venkatesan obtained her MD from the University of California, San Francisco where she was AOA and completed her dermatology residency including a chief resident year at Stanford. Her professional interests include genital skin disease, resident education, primary care provider education, and the use of telemedicine to improve patient care access for vulnerable populations.She has trained with noted vulvovaginal disease experts Dr. Joanna Badger at Stanford and Dr. Libby Edwards. Dr. Venkatesan is a Fellow of the ISSVD and President-Elect for the North American Chapter of the ISSVD.

    BioDr. Wang is a board-certified dermatologist with the Stanford Dermatology Clinic and a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Dermatology at Stanford University School of Medicine.

    Dr. Wang specializes in medical dermatology. He commonly diagnoses and treats conditions such as acne, inflammatory skin diseases, hair loss, and skin cancer.

    Dr. Wang completed a postdoctoral fellowship in immunology research with the Mark M. Davis Laboratory at Stanford University. His research interests include cutaneous immunology and the role of T cells in inflammatory skin diseases.

    BioDr. Wang is a board-certified dermatologist. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Wang is also board-certified in dermatopathology.

    Her clinical interests include medical dermatology and cutaneous oncology, including melanoma, high-risk skin cancer, and cutaneous lymphoma. Her research interests include the histopathologic characterization of rare skin disorders and improving the detection and treatment of skin cancers.

    Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMy research interest is on immunotherapy (including allogeneic transplant) of cancer. I have studies the mechanism of monoclonal antibody therapy in lymphoma patients and am currently working on designing new strategy to enhance the clinical efficacy of antibody therapy by infusing expanded NK cells. I am also interested in using tumor vaccine along with hematopoietic cell transplant.

    BioMårten Winge, M.D. Ph.D., is a Clinical Instructor of Dermatology and conducts research in the laboratory of Dr Paul Khavari at Stanford, where he studies epidermal differentiation. Dr Winge completed his M.D. and Ph.D studies at Karolinska Institute in Sweden, and subsequently a research fellowship followed by dermatology residency at Stanford. His clinical interests include inflammatory skin disease as well as skin cancer.

During my postdoc at Stanford, I will study the associations of harmful environmental exposures (air pollutants, microplastics) on (inflammatory) dermatological diseases in the lab of Dr. Eleni Linos.

    BioDr. Caely Yanikoglu is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Stanford. Dr. Yanikoglu received her Bachelor of Science degree with distinction from the University of Michigan. She received her medical degree from Columbia University in New York, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. She completed her residency in dermatology at Stanford University Medical Center and served as chief resident in her final year. Dr. Yanikoglu’s clinical interest is general medical dermatology, including skin cancer, acne, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, and dermatologic surgery.

    BioDr. Jennifer E. Yeh, M.D. Ph.D., is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Yeh graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Tau Beta Pi with a B.S. in chemical & biological engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She received her M.D. and Ph.D. from Harvard Medical School, where she studied molecular modulators of the oncogenic transcription factor STAT3 and received the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award from the National Cancer Institute. She completed her internship in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital followed by Dermatology residency in the Harvard Combined Dermatology Program where she served as Chief Resident during her final year.

    Dr. Yeh co-directs a Dermatology-Rheumatology multidisciplinary clinic with a focus on autoimmune connective tissue diseases with Dr. Yashaar Chaichian (Rheumatology). Her clinical interests also include acne, eczema, psoriasis, and skin cancer. She has a special interest in medical education and serves as Co-Director of the Medical Dermatology and Dermoscopy curriculum for the Stanford Dermatology Residency Program. She also serves as the department's Wellbeing Director, championing initiatives to enhance professional fulfillment and reduce burnout.

    BioDr Alphonsus Yip is a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the Department of Dermatology at Stanford University and the Stanford Center for Digital Health, mentored by Eleni Linos. His research focuses on dermatology, artificial intelligence, and digital health, with an emphasis on personalized care and remote monitoring. Previously, he trained as a Clinical Research Fellow at St John’s Institute of Dermatology, contributing to clinical trials, digital tool evaluation, and NLP-based analyses of patient experiences in atopic dermatitis. At Stanford, he leads a national survey on healthcare professionals’ perspectives on AI and collaborates on AI-driven approaches for pediatric and rare skin disease detection.

    BioLisa Zaba M.D. Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Dermatology, and Director of the Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) multi-disciplinary clinic and member of the supportive oncodermatology group at the Stanford Cancer Center. She runs a lab focusing on the immunology of MCC and the treatment and prognostic implications of immune checkpoint inhibitor and targeted therapy rashes. Dr. Zaba completed medical school at Cornell University, PhD in immunology at Rockefeller University, Residency and Post-Doc at Stanford University in 2013.
