Diana Tordoff
Postdoctoral Scholar, Nephrology
BioDiana M. Tordoff, PhD, MPH is a postdoctoral scholar with The PRIDE Study (pridestudy.org) at the Stanford School of Medicine. She is an epidemiologist whose research focuses on LGBTQ+ health equity. Prior to joining The PRIDE Study, Diana was awarded an NIH Kirschstein National Research Service Fellowship for her doctoral dissertation, which examined the heterogeneity in HIV/STI prevalence, testing, and PrEP use among transgender and non-binary people and their partners in the US. Her interests include barriers and facilitators of healthcare access for LGBTQ+ communities, sexual and reproductive health, molecular epidemiology, the vaginal microbiome, and community-engaged research methods.

Postdoctoral Scholar, Biomedical EthicsBioDr. Artem A. Trotsyuk is a fellow with the Stanford Center for Biomedical Ethics. He completed his PhD in Bioengineering and Masters in Computer Science with an AI specialization at Stanford University under the supervision of Dr. Geoffrey Gurtner in the Department of Surgery. He was co-advised by Dr. Zhenan Bao in the Department of Chemical Engineering alongside Dr. Russ Altman and Dr. Michael Snyder. His thesis focused on developing a smart bandage that implements a closed-loop AI processing system for sensing and therapeutic delivery into a wound bed. His current work focuses on evaluating unintended consequences of AI in biomedicine, and developing mitigation frameworks.

Themistoklis Tsarouchas
Postdoctoral Scholar, Psychiatry
BioThemis completed his PhD at the Centre for Discovery Brain Sciences of the University of Edinburgh in Scotland under Prof Catherina Becker, with focus on the contribution of the innate immune system during regeneration of the zebrafish spinal cord. As a postdoctoral researcher with Prof Anna Williams at the Centre for Regenerative Medicine in Edinburgh he worked on the molecular mechanisms that regulate the differentiation and functional maturation of human oligodendrocytes. Over the last few years, he worked on several projects focused on the identification of genes that regulate the axonal regeneration of spinal cord after injury and the differentiation of human oligodendrocyte progenitor cells into myelin producing oligodendrocytes. As a member in the Gibson lab, Themis aims to identify molecular regulators of the circadian clock and how tuning the circadian system affects the maturation and function of oligodendrocytes in health and disease.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsI am working with Botryococcus braunii, a species of freshwater microscopic algae. This organism is unique among plants in that it secretes copious amounts of oil that is chemically analogous to petroleum. This organism may be the key to developing a cheap and sustainable alternative to fossil fuels, but we do not yet have the tools to engineer or optimize its oil production. My work aims to bridge this gap.

Helena Turton
Postdoctoral Scholar, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine
BioHelena is a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in Professor Edda Spiekerkoetter's laboratory in the School of Medicine. Her main focus is investigating right ventricular adaption and maladaptation in response to an increased afterload. She is also interested in left and right ventricular interdependence in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) . Helena completed her PhD in Pulmonary Vascular Biology under the supervision of Dr Roger Thompson, Professor Allan Lawrie, and Professor Sheila Francis at the University of Sheffield, UK. Her research focus also includes the investigation of dsRNA signalling in pulmonary vascular remodelling in PAH and pulmonary veno-occlusive disease (PVOD).

Muhammad Nasir Ullah
Postdoctoral Scholar, Molecular Imaging Program at Stanford
BioMuhammad Nasir Ullah has received a BS degree in Electronic Engineering from International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) Pakistan in Jun 2012 and an integrated MS + Ph.D. degree in Bio-Convergence Engineering from Korea University, Seoul, South Korea under the supervision of Professor Jung-Yeol Yeom in Feb 2020. His Ph.D. thesis was focused on detector design for Nuclear Medicine (NM) system and NM-Ultrasound hybrid systems.
His area of research interest is radiation detection and measurement for medical applications. He has been working on detector design for Positron Emission Tomography (PET) system, intraoperative gamma probe detector, beta/gamma discrimination, and hybrid Ultrasound-gamma probe. He has also been working on frontend discrete circuit designs for various types of radiation and Ultrasound (US) detectors. He has published 6 peer-reviewed articles as the first author while 2 as co-author. He also has 4-patents under his name in S. Korea.
