Mitchel Pariani
Clinical Assistant Professor (Affiliated), Pediatrics - Genetics
BioMitchel earned his Master’s degree in genetic counseling from California State University, Northridge in 2007. At Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Mitchel served as genetic counselor and coordinator for David Rimoin, MD, PhD’s connective tissue disorders clinic and later established the cardiovascular genetics program at CSMC. At CSMC he also created the CSMC Summer Genetic Counseling Rotation Program that hosted students from genetic counseling programs around the United States. In 2014 he joined the new Stanford Center for Inherited Cardiovascular Disease to start a familial hypercholesterolemia clinic and provide genetic counseling for patients with cardiomyopathies. As the center expanded, Mitchel joined the Stanford Marfan Center as a genetic counselor and serves as program coordinator. He is the primary instructor for Stanford’s Cardiovascular Genetics course and serves as a clinical supervisor and mentor for students and volunteers.

Adjunct Professor, Pediatrics - Ped Stem Cell TransplantationBioMy principal research interests have been the assessment of the immunological consequences of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation including both acute and chronic graft versus host disease and immune reconstitution and the use of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation to treat genetic diseases. My laboratory was the first to suggest that chronic graft versus host disease was an autoimmune disease directed at histocompatibility antigens shared by donors and recipients. The observation leaded to the assessment of the role of thymic dysfunction in the pathogenesis of chronic graft versus host disease. As a pediatric immunologist I have investigated the role of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation initially in the treatment of primary immune deficiency diseases and later the treatment of metabolic diseases, which lead to my involvement in the early gene transfer clinical trials.

Lisa Pineda

BioLisa received a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Athletic Training from San Jose State University, a Master of Science in Perinatal Clinical Nurse Specialist/Neonatal Emphasis from the University of California San Francisco, and a Post-Graduate Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate from San Francisco State University.
Lisa started her nursing career at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital in the Labor and Delivery Unit. It became clear early in her career that research-driven high-quality patient-centered care was integral to her learning and passion for nursing. As a staff nurse, she participated in multiple obstetric simulations at CAPE, and she was immediately drawn to the systematic approach, clear communication, and debriefing process within the simulation methodology. For more than two decades, Lisa’s work has included bedside nursing, advanced practice nursing for women and children, and public health nursing with a particular passion for research dedicated to improving patient outcomes. -

Mahalakshmi Ramamurthy
Basic Life Research Scientist, Peds/Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics
BioI am a postdoctoral scholar working with Dr. Jason Yeatman. With a background in vision science, psychophysics and developmental cognitive neuroscience my long-term goal is to study the intersection of basic visual mechanisms and various neurodevelopmental disorders and to extend this understanding in creating effective early screening tools, and in advancing evidence-based therapeutic and remediation programs. Inherent to this interest is the need for developmental data in large and demographically diverse populations. I strongly believe that such inclusive research not only contributes to scientific advancements but can go beyond to bridge health and education disparities.
