She earned her BA in History from UCLA, where she completed research on topics such as contemporary responses to witchcraft in Early Modern Europe and the social repercussions of the Black Death. Now her research focuses on court culture and etiquette in Medieval to Early Modern Britain.

Prior to joining Stanford University, Jee-Young was a Korean Studies Librarian at the University of Chicago. She is a graduate of the San Jose State University School of Library and Information Science and the University of California, Berkeley, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Japanese Language and Culture.
