BioThroughout my career I have been extensively involved in post-graduate medical education and training of residents and fellows. I served on the AGA Future Trends Committee tasked with reporting the future of gastroenterology training programs and have been admitted into the AGA Academy of Educators. I joined Stanford for the incredible opportunity to be part of a dynamic division with excellent and dedicated faculty where one can achieve their greatest potential. I share the honor and privilege of leading our fellowship program and in the joy of teaching such talented and inspiring fellows. Together we strive to provide the best educational experience for our fellows to become outstanding gastroenterologists and future leaders in academic medicine.
My subspecialty areas of focus are inflammatory bowel disease and general gastroenterology. -
Anson Lowe

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsThe laboratory is focused on the relationship between injury, wound healing, and cancer. Esophageal, gastric, and pancreatic cancers are a focus. We are particularly interested in the regulation of cell signaling by EGFR, the EGF receptor. In addition to cancer pathogenesis, active projects include the development of new diagnostic assays and drugs.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMy research interests focus on disorder of gastrointestinal motility. Specifically, those related to nausea and vomiting with or without gastroparesis, irritable bowel syndrome and chronic abdominal pain. My research focuses on understanding the cause of symptoms and development of new treatments targeting either symptom control and disease modification.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsWe conduct clinical trials and epidemiological, translational, and real-world studies of liver cancer, fatty liver (NASH, NAFLD), viral hepatitis B and C, liver cirrhosis, and liver transplant. We focus on risk identification for disease prevention and treatment for improvement of survival. We focus on sex, racial/ethnic, and socioeconomic disparities. We specialize in clinical trials, large international real-world consortium registry data, and large public/semi-public databases.

Walter Park

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsDr. Park's research interests are in the diagnosis and management of pancreatic cysts, acute and chronic pancreatitis. His approach incorporates methods in health services research including the use of observational datasets, cost-effectiveness studies, and the development of clinical cohorts.

Gopanandan Parthasarathy
Clinical Assistant Professor, Medicine - Gastroenterology & Hepatology
BioDr Nandan Parthasarathy is a hepatologist and physician-scientist in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Stanford University.
After obtaining his medical degree in JIPMER, India, he completed a 2 year clinical research fellowship at Mayo Clinic, following which he completed his residency training at Cleveland Clinic, and GI and transplant hepatology fellowships at Mayo Clinic. During his fellowship, his research work was focused on exploring the immune mechanisms of liver injury in metabolic dysfunction associated steatohepatitis.
Clinically, he is focused on taking care of patients with MASH, cirrhosis and liver cancer.
His career goal is to study the gut-immune system-liver injury axis in order to bring novel therapeutics from the bench to bedside in patients with liver disease.
