I have specific on-going projects assessing surgical site infection surveillance in low-resource settings, and surgical management of acute and chronic non-union rib fractures.

Karin Forssell
Senior Lecturer of Education
BioDr. Karin Forssell is the director of the Learning Design and Technology (LDT) master's program and a Senior Lecturer at the Stanford Graduate School of Education. In her courses, students learn to use research from the learning sciences and learning-centered design processes to create effective digital tools. Dr. Forssell also directs the GSE Makery, a Stanford maker space where students and faculty learn to make, and make to learn, as well as the AI Tinkery, a sandbox for educators. Her current interests include hands-on learning, teacher technology adoption, and the potential for AI to support ethical and effective learning experiences.
Dr. Forssell draws insights from her many years of concurrent work as a teacher on special assignment for technology in the Palo Alto Unified School District. Dr. Forssell earned her BA in Linguistics, MA in Education, and PhD in Learning Sciences and Technology Design at Stanford University. -
Stephen P. Fortmann, MD

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsDr. Fortmann's interests include population-level (community) prevention of cardiovascular disease, the epidemiology and prevention of chronic diseases, and the effects of the built environment on health. He has conducted research projects addressing tobacco use cessation, tobacco control policy, the role of retail marketing on youth tobacco use, nutrition education, blood pressure control, and lipid disorders.

BioVasiliki Fouka is an Associate Professor of Political Science, a Senior Fellow at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR) and a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).
Her research interests lie at the intersection of political economy and political behavior. She uses historical and contemporary data to understand what shapes social identities in the short and long run and the implications of that for political and economic behavior and policy design. Major applications of her research include immigrant assimilation, the determinants of prejudice against ethnic and racial minorities, and intergroup conflict.
Her articles have been published in leading journals in political science and economics, including the American Political Science Review, the Annual Review of Political Science and the Review of Economic Studies.
