Frederick U Nitta

BioFrederick received his B.S. with EE and Chemistry from Stanford (2024), alongside a co-term in MSE (2024) at Stanford. He completed his EE honors thesis with Prof. Krishna Saraswat and Prof. Eric Pop on the efficiency limits of transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) solar cells, receiving the Firestone Medal for Excellence in Undergraduate Research. He is now pursuing his Ph.D. in EE, on 3R-phase TMDs and their bulk photovoltaic effect, and on the physics and applications of transition metal oxides. He is co-advised by Prof. Eric Pop and Prof. Andrew Mannix.

Chloe Nobuhara
Masters Student in Epidemiology and Clinical Research, admitted Autumn 2025
BioDr. Chloe Nobuhara is a Stanford general surgery resident and AI researcher dedicated to upholding patient safety standards while pursing aggressive surgical innovation. Currently on a two-year professional development track during residency, her research explores the intersection of AI and surgical practice. She has collaborated with the Medical AI and Computer Vision (MARVL) Lab to use computer vision and vision language models for performance assessment, worked with the Operating Room Black Box technologies for ambient intelligence and automated documentation, and most recently is helping to organize a foreign body identification challenge for MICCAI.
Dr. Nobuhara holds an MD from Duke University and an undergraduate degree from Northeastern University. Originally hailing from Honolulu, Hawaii, she brings a global perspective to her work, having flown over 100,000 miles (4x around the globe) for speaking engagements and conferences during her research time. -
Charlotte Notaras
Ph.D. Student in Education, admitted Autumn 2026
BioCharlotte Notaras is a doctoral student in the SHIPS Educational Policy program at Stanford’s Graduate School of Education. Her work sits at the intersection of policy design, implementation, and evaluation, with a focus on the systems and structures that states, districts, and schools need to drive continuous improvement in education. In her prior role as Lead Analyst at the National Center on Education and the Economy (NCEE), she studied high-performing education systems globally and supported a number of high-profile state policy initiatives, including the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, Utah’s First Credential program, the Growing Michigan Together Council, and the Mississippi Legislative Education Study Group. Charlotte holds an MSc in Policy Evaluation from the University of Oxford and a BA in Psychology from Princeton University.
