BioDr. Steve Khachi is a double board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist. He is the Founder, CEO, and Medical Director of Mind Study Center (est. 2017) and Mind Pulse Center (est. 2024) in Pasadena, California. Mind Study Center is an integrated outpatient clinic offering psychiatric evaluation, medication management, psychotherapy, neuropsychological evaluation, and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS); Mind Pulse Center is an insurance-based clinic specializing in TMS and medication management for treatment-resistant depression.
He serves as Adjunct Lecturer in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Child Development at Stanford University School of Medicine, where he has trained child and adolescent psychiatry fellows in transcranial magnetic stimulation and lectures on developmental psychopathology, psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and neuroscience, and as Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, where he supervises child and adolescent psychiatry fellows. His interests include neuromodulation and TMS, precision and measurement-based psychiatry, and the translation of neuroscience into outpatient care.
His research training spans cellular and systems neuroscience, including studies of bipolar disorder using patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells at UC San Diego and the Salk Institute (with John Kelsoe, M.D., and Fred Gage, Ph.D.), two-photon microscopy and electrophysiology as an HHMI-NIH Research Scholar, and cerebrovascular research at UCSF.
