Bethel Roba Mieso
Clinical Assistant Professor, Pediatrics - General Pediatrics
BioBethel R. Mieso, MD, is a Clinical Assistant Professor of General Pediatrics and Clinical Informatics at Stanford University School of Medicine and Associate Director of AI in Graduate Medical Education (GME). Her work centers on leading responsible AI deployment in health systems, drawing on operational informatics, medical education and AI ethics, with a focus on pediatric care and equity for patients and learners.
During her clinical informatics fellowship at Stanford, Dr. Mieso led the deployment of DAX Copilot across Stanford Medicine Children's Health and Stanford GME. She directed ethical and regulatory guidance, trainee rollout and patient education. After the deployment, she led research on how patients and families view ambient AI scribes in pediatric settings. This work informs how health systems handle consent, communication and trust in AI-assisted care. At the same time, she evaluated program directors' perspectives and policy decisions on AI scribes, and those findings now inform guidance for GME leaders nationwide. She carries this work forward as chair of Stanford's AI in GME Committee, which is scaling AI curriculum across training programs, and as a contributor to a national multi-institutional collaborative on AI in GME.
She holds a BS in Biology from San Jose State University, an MD from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, and completed her pediatrics residency and clinical informatics fellowship at Stanford. -
Carlos Milla
Professor of Pediatrics (Pulmonary Medicine) and, by courtesy, of Medicine (Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine)
Current Research and Scholarly InterestsAt Stanford University I developed and currently direct the CF Translational Research Center. The overarching goal of the center is to provide the groundwork to streamline, accelerate, and promote the translation of basic discoveries into effective therapies and interventions to benefit patients affected by cystic fibrosis. My laboratory group currently has three main lines of investigation: respiratory cell biology in CF; remote biochemical monitoring; and lung physiology in young children.
