Michael LoCascio
Postdoctoral Scholar, Civil and Environmental Engineering
BioMichael's work focuses on wind energy at the intersection of computational fluid dynamics, controls, and optimization. He is interested in wake modeling, wind farm layout optimization, and large eddy simulations of wind farm flows. He is currently working on a low-cost model for the annual energy production of wind farms. Michael is also a graduate researcher at the National Wind Technology Center, a research facility of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. He received his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford in 2023 and his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from UCLA in 2020.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsJames Lock, MD, Ph.D. is Professor of Child Psychiatry and Pediatrics in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine where he has taught since 1993. He is board certified in adult as well as child and adolescent psychiatry. He directs the eating disorder program in Child Psychiatry and is active in treatment research for children and adolescents with eating disorders.

Anne Juliana Lockman
Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
BioDr. Lockman is Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor of Neuropsychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Stanford. She directs the Functional Neurologic Disorder (FND) Track at La Selva in Palo Alto, within their state-of-the-art residential and partial hospitalization programs. She completed residencies in both Neurology at the University of Virginia and Psychiatry at Stanford Hospital & Clinics. Her clinical activities include providing pharmacologic and behavioral care for clients with psychiatric and behavioral conditions in the context of neurological illness, including epilepsy, stroke, movement disorders and others. Professional goals include the advancement of clinical care, research and access for clients suffering from neuropsychiatric conditions, including FND and related disorders.

Birgit Lodes
Visiting Professor, The Europe Center
BioBirgit Lodes studied at the University and Musikhochschule in Munich, UCLA, and Harvard University. Since 2005, she has been a full professor at the University of Vienna. She is also a corresponding member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and of the Academia Europaea. Currently, she holds the “Austrian Visiting Chair” at Stanford University.
In her research she focusses on musical life around 1500—she curates, for example, the multimedia platform https://musical-life.net—as well as on the music of Beethoven and from his time. Her most recent publications include the co-edited volumes Beethoven-Geflechte. A Beethoven Tapestry. Networks and Cultures of Memory (2024) and Women’s Agency in Schubert’s Vienna (2024).
