Current Role at StanfordMichael McAuliffe is a program manager with Stanford Health Care's Office of Program Management & IT Governance. Michael's primary program management client is the Stanford Medicine Educational Technology team. He manages the team's technology and media production portfolio and provides project management for online course production. Michael manages the team's workload projection and cost recovery tools, while also serving as administrator for Stanford Medicine's lecture capture and media delivery system.
Michael served as Director of the Educational Technology team until 2015, at which point he transitioned to a 100% remote role working with Stanford Medicine while living with his family in Vermont.
Prior to joining Stanford Medicine in 2012, Michael was the director of IT Academic Services at Texas Wesleyan University. In this role, Michael served as lead project manager and as the primary liaison between the Information Technology unit and Academic leadership at Texas Wesleyan. Michael’s perspective on the use of multimedia in education also reflects his experience as an instructional designer with MLink Technologies, during which he designed and oversaw the development of training curriculum and learning tools for a select group of Fortune 100 clients.
Michael is a graduate of the Stanford Management Academy (2015) and the Educause Institute Management Program (2011), as well as a member of Educause, the Association of American Medical Colleges, and the Western Group on Educational Affairs. Michael completed the Prosci Change Management Practitioner course in Winter 2024. -

BioMy research centres on early modern acting and performances by children in the plays of Shakespeare and his contemporaries.
I grew up just outside Oxford, where I attended local comprehensive schools before coming to Exeter in 2011. Over the course of my BA in English and French, I was repeatedly drawn to questions concerning early modern theatrical culture and present-day performances of early modern drama, which culminated in a final-year dissertation on the self-fashioning and reputation of the actor-playwright Nathan Field. Having graduated with a First and Dean's and College Commendations, I left Exeter in 2015 to pursue an M.St. in English (1550-1700) at the University of Oxford, where I worked on theatrical documents in the plays of Christopher Marlowe, the publication and paratexts of Jacobean play quartos, ekphrasis in the narrative poetry of Spenser and Shakespeare, and, finally, a dissertation on early modern concepts of 'youth' and its articulation in the repertory of the Children of the Queen's Revels, 1609-1613. I returned to Exeter in 2016 after being awarded a South, West, and Wales DTP PhD scholarship which allows me to continue to pursue my interests in the training, rehearsal, performance, and afterlives of early modern boy actors.
Throughout my undergraduate and postgraduate studies, I have worked as Director of the Oxford Summer Academy, a Writing Advisor with Exeter's Undergraduate Writing Centre, and have privately taught English, French, and Drama to GCSE, IB, and A Level students. At Exeter, I have taught classes in Shakespeare and Performance (Stage and Screen), and Early Modern Literature. With Paul Prescott (Warwick), I was the Performance Reviews Editor and Editorial Assistant for Shakespeare Bulletin​ until December 2017. -
Perry L. McCarty

BioPerry L. McCarty, Silas H. Palmer Professor Emeritus, came to Stanford University in 1962 to found a new multidisciplinary education and research program in environmental engineering and science that became a model for others throughout the country. From 1980 to 1985 he was Chairman of Stanford's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and from 1989 to 2002 he served as Director of the Western Region Hazardous Substance Research Center. He received a B.S. Degree in civil engineering from Wayne State University (1953), and M.S. (1957) and Sc.D. (1959) degrees in sanitary engineering from M.I.T.
The focus of McCarty's research, teaching, and writing has been on water, with a primary interest in biological processes for the control of environmental contamination. His early research was on anaerobic treatment processes, biological processes for nitrogen removal and water reuse. Recent interests are on aerobic and anaerobic processes for the treatment of domestic and industrial wastewaters, and the movement, fate, and control of groundwater contaminants.
His numerous awards and accolades for pioneering work on improving water quality worldwide includes memberships in the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Engineering. McCarty won the Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement in 1992, the Athalie Richardson Irvine Clarke Prize for Outstanding Achievements in Water Science and Technology in 1997, and the Stockholm Water Prize in 2007. In 2011 the Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors Foundation established the Perry L. McCarty AEESP Founder's Award, given annually in recognition of McCarty's significant contributions to environmental engineering education, research, and practice. The Directorship of the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment, part of the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, was named in his honor.
McCarty has written and coauthored over 350 papers, plus the textbooks, Chemistry for Environmental Engineering and Science, and Environmental Biotechnology - Principles and Applications. -
Devin Malloy McCauley
Postdoctoral Scholar, Adolescent Medicine
BioDevin McCauley earned his PhD in Human Development and Family Studies from The Pennsylvania State University in 2021, where his research applied intensive longitudinal methods and time-varying effect modeling to investigate family, school, and peer influences on adolescent mental health and well-being. A second focus of his research applies a developmental framework in study of adolescent e-cigarette use. He is particularly interested in identifying sociodemographic (e.g., race/ethnicity, sexual identity) disparities in risk factors for e-cigarette use. His long-term goal is to inform, develop, and evaluate family and school-based prevention programs which support healthy adolescent development and address health disparities related to e-cigarette use.
