Dany Lamothe, MD
Clinical Assistant Professor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences - Medical Psychiatry
BioDr. Dany Lamothe is a board-certified, fellowship-trained psychiatrist with Stanford Health Care Gastrointestinal Behavioral Medicine. He is also a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Division of Medical Psychiatry at Stanford University School of Medicine. He is the lead psychiatrist in the Gastrointestinal Behavioral Medicine Program and the medical director of psychiatric emergency services at Stanford Health Care. In addition, Dr. Lamothe is a supervisor of the Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic.
Dr. Lamothe specializes in addressing emotional, behavioral, and psychological factors that contribute to persistent gastrointestinal symptoms. He uses evidence-based therapies and medication management to help improve his patients’ quality of life.
Dr. Lamothe’s research interests include health anxiety, nutritional support outcomes in patients with gastroparesis, and integrative care models for disorders of gut-brain interaction.
Dr. Lamothe has published his research in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, the Canadian Journal of Bioethics, and General Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. He has also presented his research at international, national, and regional meetings, including the annual meetings of the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (ACLP), the American Psychiatric Association (APA), the Association for the Advancement of Philosophy and Psychiatry (AAPP), and the European Association of Psychosomatic Medicine (EAPM).
Dr. Lamothe is a member of the American Academy of Psychodynamic Psychiatry and Psychoanalysis, the ACLP, the APA, the Canadian Psychiatric Association, the EAPM, the International Experiential Dynamic Therapy Association (IEDTA), and the Society for Biopsychosocial Science and Medicine (SBSM). -

Clinical Professor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences - Medical Psychiatry
BioDr. Samelson-Jones completed her medical training at UCSF in 2009, followed by psychiatry residency and a public psychiatry fellowship at the New York Psychiatric Institute / New York Presbyterian Hospital - Columbia. She served on the faculty of the UCSF Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at UCSF from 2013 to 2026 as a clinician-educator. In 2026, she joined Stanford in as a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, where she leads the Integrated Behavioral Health program with Stanford Medicine Partners at community primary care clinics.
At UCSF, Dr. Samelson-Jones was a member of the Haile T. Debas Academy of Medical Educators and the recipient of numerous teaching awards, including the Henry J. Kaiser Award for Excellence in Teaching from the UCSF School of Medicine. She developed and taught psychopharmacology courses for the senior psychiatry residents at UCSF, earning annual teaching accolades. She also co-directed the Behavioral Medicine Seminar for UC Primary Care residents (2016-24) and co-led the development of an three-year enhanced behavioral health curriculum for SF Primary Care residents (2023-26).
In 2018, Dr. Samelson-Jones was 1 of 8 physicians at UCSF to receive the Exceptional Physician Award from UCSF Health. She founded the Psychotic Experiences Clinic at UCSF to provide specialty care for patients with chronic psychosis. She also held a joint appointment in the Department of Medicine in recognition of her work within the Division of General Medicine, where she provided direct clinical consultations, launched and served as the psychiatric consultant for a collaborative care model for depression care, and supported quality improvement initiatives related to mental health care. She also trained medical students, psychiatry residents, and consult-liaison fellows in these roles. She is a frequent speaker at continuing medical education (CME) conferences for PCPs.
In 2022, Dr. Samelson-Jones received the Faculty Innovation in Teaching Award from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in 2022 to create PsychSnaps (psychsnaps.com), a longitudinal medical education program designed to help primary care providers better manage their patients' mental health needs. PsychSnaps offers case-based lessons in psychiatry and addiction medicine through email newsletter and online at psychsnaps.com. PsychSnaps now has over 850 subscribers and more than 25,000 monthly unique website visitors. Dr. Samelson-Jones has authored more than 30 newsletters. The first 3 years of content have been accredited for CME as enduring materials by UCSF, and educational outcomes have been presented at national meetings. -

Yelizaveta Sher, MD, FACLP

She completed Residency in Psychiatry and Fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine at Stanford University Medical Center. She has been a part of Psychosomatic Medicine Faculty, now a Division of Medical Psychiatry, at Stanford since 2013. Her areas of clinical and research interests include psychiatric comorbidities in patients with pulmonary disorders. In particular, she specializes in mental health of patients with cystic fibrosis as well as lung and heart transplant patients. She consults on patients hospitalized on medical and surgical units as well as sees patients in outpatient clinics. She serves as the Director of Psychiatric and Psychological Services for the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Clinic and Chief of Psychosomatic Medicine Clinic. She has published many articles and book chapters and edited several books related to her fields of interest and expertise.

His recent research includes quantitative analyses of innovative care models such as shelter-based programs, examining long-term housing stability, recovery outcomes, and quality of life among individuals experiencing homelessness and severe mental illness.
In addition to his scholarly contributions, Dr. Soufi has played a prominent leadership role during his residency training in representing resident physicians in matters of healthcare policy, workforce conditions, and academic affairs. In this capacity, he has participated in public policy discussions and parliamentary consultations, advocating for sustainable improvements to healthcare delivery and physician training environments.
Dr. Soufi’s work bridges clinical research, policy engagement, and medical education, reflecting a commitment to improving both patient outcomes and the structure of healthcare systems.
