BioDr. Sean Ku Wang is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained retina specialist with Stanford Health Care and an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Stanford University.
Dr. Wang specializes in treating diseases of the retina and macula, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, central serous chorioretinopathy, and retinal vascular occlusions. He is committed to providing individualized, high-quality care to achieve the best possible outcomes for his patients.
Dr. Wang’s research aims to accelerate the development of safe and effective genetic therapies. By integrating approaches from genetics, immunology, synthetic biology, computer science, and medicine, his lab seeks to discover and translate new treatments for human diseases with an emphasis on blinding disorders. His work has been published in leading scientific journals such as Nature, Nature Biotechnology, Journal of Clinical Investigation, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Dr. Wang has been recognized as a STAT Wunderkind, Forbes 30 Under 30, and a recipient of the American Society for Clinical Investigation Emerging-Generation Award and Burroughs Wellcome Fund Career Award for Medical Scientists among other honors. -
