Samuel Santos
Associate Vice Provost for Inclusion, Community and Integrative Learning, Vice Provost for Student Affairs
Current Role at StanfordSamuel currently serves as Associate Vice Provost for Inclusion, Community, and Integrative Learning, Vice Provost for Student Affairs.
In this role, Santos leads Student Affairs’ efforts to center diversity, equity, and inclusion in programs supporting students’ sense of community and belonging. Organizations reporting through him include the Centers for Equity, Community, and Leadership (the seven community centers), the Office of First Generation/Low-Income Programs, the Office for Military-Affiliated Communities, the Office of Student Engagement, Fraternity, and Sorority Life, Stanford Career Education, and the Office for Inclusion, Belonging and Intergroup Communication.
Santos joins Stanford with nearly two decades of experience in the student affairs field. His most recent role prior to Stanford was as assistant vice chancellor for student engagement at the University of California, Berkeley. Additionally, he has served as assistant vice president for student affairs and dean of students University of Houston, Downtown; and interim vice chancellor for student development, associate vice chancellor of student success and equity, and dean of student affairs and wellness at City College San Francisco. He began his career at an identity-based cultural center – the LGBT Center at UC San Diego – and then as the director of the Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity at UC Santa Barbara.
Santos is pursuing a doctorate of education at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Education, Leaders for Equity and Democracy (LEAD) program. He holds a master’s in education and multicultural and community-based counseling from San Diego State University and a bachelor’s in Mexican American Studies, Literary and Cultural Studies Track, from the University of Texas at San Antonio. -

Undergraduate, Urban StudiesBioDavid Sengthay is a community and electoral organizer born and raised in Stockton, California. He is knowledgeable in mobilizing constituents to participate in local government through physical demonstrations and online call-to-actions. He is passionate about further investing in politics by applying his experience as a young organizer to support his community through tangible policy and spreading education and resources to empower his community.
He has experience in organizing demonstrations and protests, working for electoral campaigns, and engaging in community outreach as a youth organizer in Stockton through organizations such as Stockton Stands. He is passionate about educational equity, women's rights, reproductive wellness, racial justice, transparency in local government, and the advancement of queer BIPOC communities.
Intending to graduate in 2026 with a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies and a Master's in Public Policy, David Sengthay plans to return to his community in Stockton, California. He aims to run for local office after developing the necessary career experience for him to serve his community.
