Hannah Katherine D'Apice
COLLEGE Lecturer, Civic, Liberal, and Global Education
BioDr. Hannah K. D'Apice is a Lecturer in the COLLEGE (Civic, Liberal, and Global Education) Program. She received her doctorate from Stanford University in International/Comparative Education and the Sociology of Education. Her research agenda examines the historical and transnational sociology of organizational structures, policies, and leadership in education, especially as they relate to issues of race/ethnicity and gender/sexuality.
Prior to graduate school, Dr. D'Apice was a research manager for randomized controlled trial evaluations of education interventions. She also taught professionally for four years in Texas and Singapore.
In addition to her PhD, Dr. D'Apice has a Master's in Sociology and Master's in International Education Policy Analysis, both from Stanford, as well as a Bachelor's in Political Science from Columbia University. -
Julian Davis
COLLEGE Lecturer, Civic, Liberal, and Global Education
BioJulian Davis is a lecturer in the Civic, Liberal, and Global Education (COLLEGE) program at Stanford University, where he received a PhD in Philosophy with a minor in Philosophy, Literature, and the Arts. His work spans legal, social, and political philosophy, with interdisciplinary research interests in literature and political history. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Philosophy at Brown University. A member of the California bar, he graduated magna cum laude from UC Law San Francisco, where he served on the editorial staff of the UC Law Journal. Earlier in his career, he provided general counsel services to small businesses, start-ups, and non-profits, and received numerous awards for community service, including the San Francisco Bay Guardian’s Local Hero award.

Ana De Almeida Amaral
Senior Producer, Contingent
Staff, Stanford Storytelling ProjectBioAna De Almeida Amaral (she/her) is an award-winning journalist, audio producer, and storyteller from San Diego, California. She's long been passionate about using storytelling as a liberatory tool to document the experiences of queer and Latino communities. Ana graduated from Stanford with a B.A. in Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity.
Ana produced KQED’s first Latino culture podcast, Hyphenación, and has worked telling stories about the US-Mexico borderlands on Cruzando Líneas. As a journalist, Ana has reported on the oldest lesbian bar in San Francisco, the history of queer policing in the Bay Area, and on state violence in Chile.
Ana is a Senior Producer at the Stanford Storytelling Project where she oversees production of the State of the Human podcast. She also trains and supports students building audio production and storytelling skills.
