Miguel Larrañaga Zulueta

BioSt Sebastian (Spain), 1961.
Graduated in Philosophy, master degree in Paleography and PhD in Medieval History. The social and cultural history of the Middle Ages has centered his teaching and research work, areas on which he has published an extensive number of books and articles. Some of his latest publications are: "Palabra, Imagen, Poder: Enseñar el Orden en la Edad Media" (Word, Image, Power: Teaching Order in the Middle Ages), 2015; "Sobre los orígenes del culto jacobeo" (On the origins of the Jacobean cult), 2018; “History and Art in the convent of Santa Cruz la Real of Segovia " (2018).
He has been a professor at the universities of Alcala (Spain) and Middlebury College (Madrid), and a researcher at the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (Spanish Superior Council of Scientific Research). He was a visiting professor in the United States (St John's U.-The Hill Manuscript Library, Minnesota), Germany (Institut für Franziskanische Geschichte - Münster) and the United Kingdom (Oxford Center for Medieval History - U. of Oxford). He is currently a professor, director of the Antiquity & Middle Ages Research Center and Vice-Rector of IE University, professor at Stanford University in Madrid, member of the CARMEN group (Cooperative for the Advancement of Research through the Medieval European Network), and member of the editorial board of the Journal of Medieval Iberian Studies (Routledge, USA).
Miguel is married and lives in Madrid and Segovia (Spain). He enjoys outdoor activities: Rock climbing, mountain biking, and surfing. -
Alison Grace Laurence
Lecturer in Civic, Liberal, and Global Education
BioAlison Laurence is a Lecturer in Civic, Liberal, and Global Education. She received her PhD from MIT’s interdisciplinary program in History, Anthropology, and Science, Technology, and Society (HASTS) in 2019. A cultural and environmental historian, she specializes in the study of nature on display. Her current book manuscript--Of Dinosaurs and Culture Wars: Extinction, Extraction, and Modern American Monsters--traces how popular displays transformed dinosaurs and other creatures of deep time from scientific specimens to consumer objects and artifacts of everyday American life. Alison’s work has appeared in the Science Museum Group Journal, the History of Anthropology Newsletter, and the Anthropocene Curriculum. She holds a BA in Classics from Brown University and an MA in History and Public History from the University of New Orleans.
During the 2021-22 academic year, she is teaching "Stories Everywhere," "Design That Understands Us," "The Meat We Eat," and a new IntroSem called "Animal Archives." -
Eloi Laurent

BioDr. Éloi Laurent is a senior economist at OFCE, professor at Ponts Paris Tech, at the Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA) at Sciences Po and visiting professor at Stanford University (Paris and Stanford). Macro-economist by training (PhD), he graduated from Paris-Dauphine and Sciences Po (summa cum laude).
His work focuses on the relationship between well-being and sustainability through the social-ecological approach, in particular the exploration of the sustainability-justice nexus and planetary health-human health nexus (“full health nexus”).
He is the author or editor of twenty books in French and English (translated into nine languages), three governmental reports and around a hundred articles published in French and international journals.
He was parliamentary attaché to the National Assembly and assistant in the cabinet of the French Prime Minister. He has been a Visiting Scholar at New York University (NYU) and Columbia University, Visiting Professor at the University of Montreal, and Visiting Scholar and Professor at Harvard University.
He is Research Fellow at the Well-being Economy Alliance (WeALL), qualified expert for European institutions and chairman of the SHS 5 (economics and law) and Foresight (sustainable development) Commissions of the Scientific Research Fund, FRS- FNRS (Belgium).
