Bio

Dr Dian Rositawati is Indonesia Programs Director at the Stanford Center for Human Rights and International Justice and a Research Scholar at the Stanford Center for Ocean Solutions. Her expertise lies in governance and institutional approaches to law, public policy, and sustainable development, with a focus on Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

Her research and policy work examines how legal, governance, and institutional frameworks shape policy development and implementation. Her work spans environmental and natural resource governance, blue food systems and small-scale fisheries, human rights, judicial governance, and the rule of law. She works closely with governments, courts, universities, civil society organisations, and international partners to connect research and evidence with policy development, institutional reform, and capacity building across Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

Dr Rositawati has more than two decades of experience in judicial reform and the rule of law in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Since 2009, she has served on the Judicial Reform Team of the Supreme Court of Indonesia, contributing to reforms in judicial education, case management, judicial governance, and oversight, and advising the Court on institutional reform and judicial capacity development.
