Bio


Janet Hall has been the Senior Director for Finance and Administration in Academic Advising (previously "UAR") since 2013. She oversees all financial and administrative aspects of the Office of Academic Advising while collaborating with other departments to develop systematic and technology solutions. As a part of the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, the mission of Academic Advising is to welcome, connect, and support all Stanford undergraduates so they can get the most out of their Stanford educations. The Office of Academic Advising is broadly responsible for the transition of new students to Stanford; academic advising, and academic policy and progress.

Most of Janet’s career has been focused on the high-tech industry, most notably as VP and CFO of Fatbrain.com {*}. She has held a series of finance and operations positions in other tech start-ups, most recently SugarSync and Right Now Technologies. Janet earned an MBA from Stanford in 1997 and her BS degree in Business Administration from UC Berkeley in 1990, with an emphasis on Finance and Accounting. She earned her CPA license in 1993 after five years as a Public Accountant at Deloitte & Touche. In her spare time, you’ll find her traveling and enjoying her time with her two college-aged daughters and family.
