Bio


Michelle Baldonado is a Research Engineer at the Stanford Robotics Center. Her previous work experience includes time as a Human-Computer Interaction researcher at Xerox PARC. She did her Ph.D. in Computer Science at Stanford, where her advisor was Terry Winograd. She has an M. Phil. in Computer Speech and Language Processing from Cambridge University (advisor: Steve Young), and earned her A.B. (summa cum laude) at Harvard with a joint concentration in Computer Science and Linguistics (advisor: Barbara Grosz).

Current Research and Scholarly Interests


Michelle is currently exploring the space of robotics systems for older adults. Working to bridge the robotics and senior communities, she is especially interested in robots that encourage older adults to develop and maintain healthy habits as they age, with a focus both on reducing social isolation and on encouraging physical activity and time outdoors.
