What is the mathematical structure of supergravity/string theory and its relation to cosmology?
Professor Kallosh works on the general structure of supergravity and string theory and their applications to cosmology. Her main interests are related to the models early universe inflation and dark energy in string theory. She develops string theory models explaining the origin of the universe and its current acceleration. With her collaborators, she has recently constructed de Sitter supergravity, which is most suitable for studies of inflation and dark energy and spontaneously broken supersymmetry.
She is analyzing possible consequences of the expected new data from current and future cosmological observations, including LiteBIRD satellite CMB data. These results may affect the relationship between superstring theory and supergravity, and the real world. Professor Kallosh works, in particular, on future tests of string theory by CMB data and effective supergravity models with flexible amplitude of gravitational waves produced during inflation.

Abstract
This paper is dedicated to Michael J. Duff on the occasion of his 70th birthday. I discuss some issues of M-theory/string theory/supergravity closely related to Mike's interests. I describe a relation between STU black hole entropy, the Cayley hyperdeterminant, the Bhargava cube and a three-qubit Alice-Bob-Charlie triality symmetry. I shortly describe my recent work with Gunaydin, Linde and Yamada on M-theory cosmology (Gunaydin et al. 2020 M-theory cosmology, octonions, error-correcting codes (http://arxiv.org/abs/2008.01494)), inspired by the work of Duff with Ferrara and Borsten, Levay, Marrani et al. Here, we have seven-qubits, a party including Alice, Bob, Charlie, Daisy, Emma, Fred and George. Octonions and Hamming error-correcting codes are at the base of these models. They lead to seven benchmark targets of future cosmic microwave background missions looking for primordial gravitational waves from inflation. I also show puzzling relations between the fermion mass eigenvalues in these cosmological models, the exceptional Jordan eigenvalue problem and black hole entropy. The symmetry of our cosmological models is illustrated by beautiful pictures of a Coxeter projection of the root system of E7.

Unity of Cosmological Inflation Attractors
PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS
2015; 114 (14)
Abstract
Recently, several broad classes of inflationary models have been discovered whose cosmological predictions, in excellent agreement with Planck, are stable with respect to significant modifications of the inflaton potential. Some classes of models are based on a nonminimal coupling to gravity. These models, which we call ξ attractors, describe universal cosmological attractors (including Higgs inflation) and induced inflation models. Another class describes conformal attractors (including Starobinsky inflation and T models) and their generalization to α attractors. The aim of this Letter is to elucidate the common denominator of these attractors: their robust predictions stem from a joint pole of order 2 in the kinetic term of the inflaton field in the Einstein frame formulation prior to switching to the canonical variables. Model-dependent differences only arise at subleading level in the kinetic term. As a final step towards the unification of the different attractors, we introduce a special class of ξ attractors which is fully equivalent to α attractors with the identification α=1+(1/6ξ). While r is generically predicted to be of the order 1/N^{2}, there is no theoretical lower bound on r in this class of models.

Universal Attractor for Inflation at Strong Coupling
PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS
2014; 112 (1)
Abstract
We introduce a novel nonminimal coupling between gravity and the inflaton sector. Remarkably, for large values of this coupling all models asymptote to a universal attractor. This behavior is independent of the original scalar potential and generalizes the attractor in the φ4 theory with nonminimal coupling to gravity. The attractor is located in the "sweet spot" of parameter values that are preferred by Planck's recent results.
