Bob Kocher, MD is a Partner at Venrock and focuses on healthcare IT and services investments. He currently serves on the Boards of Devoted Health, Virta Health, Aledade, Lyra Health, Need, Accompany Health, Aligned Marketplace, Candid, and Sojourn. He is a Board Observer at SmithRx, Suki, AristaMD and The Public Health Company and previously Premera Blue Cross, Included Health (Grand Rounds + Doctor on Demand) and Castlight. He is a co-founder of Lyra Health, Need, and Accompany Health.
He is an Adjunct Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine and a Non-Resident Senior Fellow and Advisory Board Member at the Leonard D. Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics at USC. His areas of focus are tech-enabled care models, applying AI to care and administrative costs, and ho to make healthcare more affordable and better. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the National Institute of Healthcare Management (NIHCM) and is on the Editorial boards of Health Affairs and Health Affairs Scholar.
Previously, Bob served in the Obama Administration as Special Assistant to the President for Healthcare and Economic Policy on the National Economic Council, as a Partner at McKinsey & Company, and is an internal medicine doctor.
