In her doctoral education, she studies how state policies have affected vulnerable subgroups of K-12 students (e.g., low-income students, English Language Learners, students with disabilities) with a specific focus on early literacy. Prior to graduate school, Sarah worked as a middle school teacher and as a Research Intern at the Brookings Institute Center on Education Policy in Washington, D.C. Sarah holds a B.A. in History with Honors from Brown University where she graduated magna cum laude.
