Saraswati Kache
Clinical Professor, Pediatrics - Critical Care
BioDr. Kache is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Critical Care Medicine whose work spans pediatric transport, device innovation, global health, and sustainability. A recent Stanford Biodesign Faculty Fellow and recognized educator with multiple teaching awards, she is engaged in device development, building on a career devoted to critically ill children through innovation, education, and global collaboration.
She chairs the Sepsis Steering Committee at LPCH, which she helped launch in 2017 to develop a hospital-specific pathway from international guidelines, identify improvement opportunities, and drive better outcomes through education and evaluation of clinical data. She previously served on the American College of Critical Care Medicine committee that authored the Pediatric Sepsis Guidelines, shaping national and international standards.
As Medical Director of the Transport Program, she focuses on team education and standardized processes to build a high-functioning pediatric critical care transport team dedicated to safe inter-facility transport of critically ill children. She is also partnering with the American Academy of Pediatrics on a national multidisciplinary pediatric transport curriculum.
As a Stanford Innovations in Global Health Faculty Fellow, she founded the pediatric residency's Global Health Track to train physicians in equitable, sustainable pediatric care. Internationally, she has helped establish and support PICUs in Nepal, Uganda, and Zimbabwe, introduced CPAP in low-resource settings, and led PICU education and capacity-building to strengthen critical care infrastructure.
A member of the Maternal Child Health Research Institute, her research integrates guideline development, systems improvement, and global implementation of evidence-based pediatric critical care. She has recently begun examining how healthcare systems affect climate change and how to improve sustainability. -

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsThe lab’s primary research interest is to understand how specific neuronal circuits are established. We use mouse genetics, combinatorial immunochemical labeling and high-resolution laser scanning microscopy to identify, manipulate, and quantitatively analyze synaptic contacts within the complex neuronal milieu of the spinal cord and the enteric nervous system.

Siva Kasinathan
Instructor, Pediatrics - Rheumatology
BioSiva Kasinathan, MD, PhD is a physician-scientist and Instructor of Pediatric Rheumatology at the Stanford University School of Medicine and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital. In addition to caring for children and young adults with rheumatic diseases in his clinical practice, Siva conducts research to advance the understanding of mechanisms of autoimmunity and autoinflammation.
Siva holds an MD and PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of Washington, where he developed high-throughput methods for epigenome profiling and contributed new insights in chromatin biology and gene regulation. During his clinical training in pediatrics and rheumatology at Stanford, he pioneered approaches for single-molecule analysis of genetic variation, DNA methylation, and chromatin structure.
Siva's current research bridges genomics and immunology, focusing on developing and applying sensitive technologies to unravel the genetic and molecular underpinnings of lupus, arthritis, and other disorders of immune regulation. As a physician-scientist, Siva is committed to translating fundamental discoveries into precision therapies and biomarkers to improve outcomes for patients with immune-mediated diseases. -
Aanchal Preet Kaur
Postdoctoral Scholar, Hematology-Oncology
BioDr. Aanchal Preet Kaur is a post-doctoral fellow in the Ramakrishna lab interested in understanding the role of myeloid cells in driving immunosuppression and resistance to CAR T cell therapies in pediatric patients with diffuse midline glioma. Her work involves developing organoid models to study the interaction of myeloid cells and CAR T cells and further employ these models to validate targets identified in patient single cell sequencing data using CRISPR technology.
Dr. Aanchal Preet Kaur received her PhD in Oncology at the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom where she focused on developing dendritic cell vaccines for melanoma. In her earlier post-doctoral work at Providence Cancer Institute with Dr. Michael Gough, she developed spheroid models to study the impact of radiation therapy on immune cell-cancer cell interactions.
