David Eagleman
Adjunct Professor, Psych/Public Mental Health & Population Sciences
BioDavid Eagleman is a neuroscientist, bestselling author, and Guggenheim Fellow. Dr. Eagleman’s areas of research include sensory substitution, time perception, vision, and synesthesia. He also studies the intersection of neuroscience with the legal system, and in that capacity he directs the non-profit Center for Science and Law. Eagleman is the writer and presenter of The Brain, an Emmy-nominated television series on PBS and BBC. He is the author of 8 books, including Livewired, The Runaway Species, The Brain, Incognito, and Wednesday is Indigo Blue. He is also the author of a widely adopted textbook on cognitive neuroscience, Brain and Behavior. His internationally bestselling book of literary fiction, SUM, has been translated into 32 languages, turned into two operas, and named a Best Book of the Year by Barnes and Noble. Dr. Eagleman has been a TED speaker, a guest on the Colbert Report, and profiled in the New Yorker magazine. He has launched several neuroscience companies from his research, including Neosensory and BrainCheck.

Amirreza Ehsani, MD

BioAmirreza Ehsani is an MD and completed his undergraduate education at Iran University of Medical Sciences(IUMS), Tehran, Iran. After his graduation, he continued research in surgical fields and also practicing medicine in private clinics in Tehran, Iran.
Dr. Ehsani joined the Stanford Neurosurgery department in November, 2022, as a Visiting Instructor. His research focuses on clinical neurosurgery and immunotherapy for many benign and malignant brain pathologies. -
Matthew A. Eisenberg

BioDr. Matthew A. Eisenberg joined Stanford Health Care in early 2013 and is the Medical Informatics Director for Analytics & Innovation with a focus on interoperability and health information exchange, regulatory reporting, health care analytics, patient reported outcomes and other uses of technology to meet our strategic initiatives.
Dr. Eisenberg is board certified in Pediatrics and Clinical Informatics. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor (Affiliated) in the Stanford Center for Biomedical Informatics Research at the Stanford University School of Medicine and he serves as the Stanford Health Care site director for the Stanford Clinical Informatics Fellowship Program. He previously held the position of Clinical Assistant Professor in Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He is a current member of the eHealth Exchange Coordinating Committee, a Sequoia Project Board member and serves as the current chair of the Epic Care Everywhere Network Governing Council. He is a member of the Carequality Advisory Council (past co-chair) and a member of IHE USA Implementation Committee. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the American Medical Informatics Association and their Clinical Informatics Community. -

Essam Ibraheem Elknawy

BioI am currently serving as a research fellow in pediatric gastroenterology department at Stanford University Medical Centre. I am an ECFMG Certified Physician. Over the past year, I have effectively immersed myself in the U.S. healthcare system. I am actively engaging in outpatient and inpatient services, as well as the operating room. Concurrently, I am involved in various IBD-related research projects. With six months of U.S. clinical experience (USCE) in pediatrics and three years of clinical practice in Egypt, I bring a well-rounded perspective. I graduated with honors from Mansoura University School of Medicine in 2020. My academic excellence is complemented by a robust track record in clinical research, evident through ongoing papers, posters, and oral presentations. My primary role centered on the execution of clinical research, with some laboratory work complementing it. I am currently the primary author for a study titled "Clinical Outcomes and Safety of Infliximab and Vedolizumab as Initial Biological Therapy in Pediatric Patients with Mild to Moderate IBD." Additionally, I contributed as the third author to another research project titled "Patient-Derived Organoids Illuminate a Mitochondrial Bioenergetic Inefficiency Associated with Decoupling in the Colon Epithelia of Pediatric Patients with Ulcerative Colitis." Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is a point of pride for me. Beyond medicine, I find fulfilment in volunteering within underserved and disadvantaged communities. Athletics play a significant role in my life, and I am passionate about sports such as soccer, basketball, and fitness training. An Egyptian physician raised in the United Arab Emirates, I am dedicated to pursuing a career as a pediatric gastroenterologist in the United States.

Christopher Stephen Elliott
Clinical Associate Professor (Affiliated), Urology - Divisions
BioDr Elliott is a fellowship trained, pelvic reconstructive surgeon with expertise in neurourology. He participated in the physician-scientist program at Ohio State University, receiving both and MD as well as a PhD in epidemiology. After completing his urologic residency at Stanford University Medical Center in 2010, he became Stanford's first Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Fellow - a unique two year ABU/ABOG accredited fellowship with both Stanford Urology and Urogynecology faculty training. During this time he received a full experience in pelvic medicine that encompassed both male and female patients. He has clinical and surgical expertise in the management of female pelvic organ prolapse, complex urogynecologic anomalies, overactive bladder, BPH, voiding dysfunction secondary to neurologic disease and both male and female incontinence.
Starting in 2012, Dr Elliott joined the Division of Urology at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, California with a joint appointment at Stanford University Medical Center. In addition to his clinical work, he has authored several book chapters, published multiple journal articles and taught courses at national meetings (AUA, AUGS). His main academic interests include the epidemiologic study of pelvic organ prolapse, incontinence and bladder dysfunction after spinal cord injury. Dr Elliott is currently a member of the SUFU young members committee and the Neurogenic Bladder Research Group.

Dr. Esmaeilkhanian is a medical doctor graduated in 2018 from the Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS). When she was a medical student, she developed a strong passion for ophthalmology, and her research started off in this field. After completing medical school, she worked in an underprivileged area for a few years while she continued her research at the Eye and Ear Research Institute of IUMS. In 2021, she joined Doheny Eye Institute, UCLA where she had the opportunity to do research on diabetic retinopathy and AMD and to get clinical experience as well. She joined Byers Eye Institute on March 2023 and is looking forward to learning a lot from great mentors at Byers Eye Institute, making lots of friends, and gaining invaluable professional and personal skills. -

BioAmin Etemad earned a Bachelor's degree in management from l'Université de Montréal's HEC School of Commerce followed by an MBA in Medical Management from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis in 2008. He led Amazon fulfillment as an Operations Manager at MSP5 in Shakopee, MN before joining the supply chain team of Minnesota-based Allina Health as a process improvement manager. He then moved to a central QI role at Allina where he was part of MN's Covid surge planning for the ED and ICU in 2020.
In the fall of 2020, Amin joined Stanford Health as a Quality Improvement Project Manager in Radiology. In 2023, he transitioned to the school of medicine where he leads the quality improvement team in the department of surgery.
Amin is an avid tennis and soccer player and loves playing acoustic guitar and a classical string instrument called Santoor. He speak5 languages, having grown up on 3 continents and 5 countries, raised in a family of 10+ medical doctors with a continuous love for traveling the world and learning new cultures and cuisines.
