Donghee Kim, MD, PhD
Social Science Research Scholar, Medicine - Med/Gastroenterology and Hepatology
BioI am clinically trained as a physician specializing in gastroenterology and hepatology. My research has focused on clinical research of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and obesity-related gastrointestinal diseases, focusing on a population-based study. In addition, my research was not only focused on gastroenterology and was expanded to cardiology, endocrinology, and neurology (sleep medicine). I have experience with large epidemiologic cohort studies as well as clinical trials. This work has resulted in over 250 published papers, including major journals such as Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Gut, Journal of Hepatology, American Journal of Gastroenterology, etc. (as the first and corresponding author). These publications have been cited more than 13,000 times.

Donghoon Kim
Postdoctoral Scholar, Radiology
BioDr. Donghoon Kim is a postdoctoral scholar at Stanford's Center for Advanced Functional Neuroimaging. Before joining Stanford, he earned his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from University of California, Davis, supervised by Dr. Youngkyoo Jung. His Ph.D. thesis was titled "Deep Learning-Driven Technical Developments and Clinical Applications of Arterial Spin Labeling MRI". During his Ph.D. studies, he focused on the development of advanced deep learning techniques for ASL MRI, and its clinical applications. During his master's degree in Biomedical Engineering at Virginia Tech-Wake Forest University, he studied the functional connectivity of the default mode network using resting state BOLD fMRI among youth football players, supervised by Dr. Christopher Whitlow and Dr. Youngkyoo Jung.

Jackson Kim, MD
Clinical Assistant Professor, Medicine - Nephrology
BioDr. Kim is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Nephrology at Stanford Health Care.
Dr. Kim diagnoses and treats a range of conditions affecting the kidneys, including glomerulonephritis, nephrotic syndrome, chronic kidney disease, and genetic kidney disease. He creates a customized, comprehensive treatment plan for every patient he serves.
Dr. Kim has a keen research interest in glomerular kidney disease, particularly glomerulonephritis. He has authored manuscripts, conducted case studies, and published his work in several peer-reviewed journals. -

Jiyeong Kim
Postdoctoral Scholar, Dermatology
BioDr. Jiyeong Kim is a post-doctoral scholar at the Stanford Center for Digital Health and the Department of Dermatology School of Medicine. Dr. Kim is a computational epidemiologist, harnessing patient-and caregiver-generated health information and data to design patient-centered health interventions, which could be tailored to each patient group for improving patient engagement and better health outcomes.
In her work, Dr. Kim uses artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing to understand patients' and caregivers' genuine voices of care needs and needed support. As a multidisciplinary epidemiologist, Dr. Kim's work focuses on translational health data science, embracing the intersection of mental health and digital health and expanding to patient-provider communications and health disparities among cancer survivors and caregivers of individuals with chronic conditions (e.g., Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementia).

Johanna Kim

BioI’m an accomplished healthtech leader with deep experience in launching & leading research teams. I’m directly responsible for building programs and partnerships, leading teams through all phases of research. I’m especially adept at cultivating interdisciplinary and academic/industry collaborations and navigating complexities inherent to the healthcare space.
My work has supported development of novel technologies and applications, helped to generate substantial research funding, and contributed to numerous high-impact publications. My career has spanned diverse contexts, including academic medical centers, university research labs, and health clinics. My passion for people, operations, and the belief that technology can improve health has been the driving force of my career for the last 20 years.
Of all the things I value most in my career, working for a meaningful cause is at the top of the list. I enjoy working with brilliant clinicians, scientists and engineers who have bold, audacious ideas to improve human health. I thrive in “start-up” cultures where collaboration and excitement are the norm, bringing cross-disciplinary and cross-functional teams together to incubate new solutions. Joseph Kim
Clinical Associate Professor, Pediatrics
BioJoseph J. Kim, MD is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at the Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Kim also serves as the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at Stanford University and as the Associate Chief Medical Officer of Stanford Children’s Health. Dr. Kim’s career has focused on medical leadership and program building in pediatric hospital medicine. He has been active locally and nationally promoting patient experience, with particular emphasis on family centered care in pediatric inpatient settings. He has participated in numerous local and national care improvement programs including efforts around bronchiolitis, inpatient asthma management, pediatric sedation, medical co-management of surgical patients and patient care progression in inpatient settings. In his hospital administrative roles he has championed safety rounding, family centered rounding, scheduled based care of inpatients, discharge planning and value based performance improvement. Dr. Kim has mentored dozens of trainees and junior faculty in healthcare leadership and program administration.
Dr. Kim received his BA in Sociology from the University of Virginia and his MD from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. He completed his residency in pediatrics at the University of California San Francisco. Clinically, Dr. Kim practices as a Pediatric Hospitalist at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford and at California Pacific Medical Center. -
Juliann Lipps Kim

BioDr. Juliann Kim works as a Pediatric Hospitalist for PAMF. She cares for patients in the LPCH Newborn Nursery, Packard Intermediate Care Nursery, and on the inpatient wards. She serves on several LPCH committees including Professional Performance Evaluation Committee, Perinatal Care Committee, Credentials Committee, and Care Improvement Committee. She served as the LPCH Medical Staff President from 2018-2020.

Juyong Brian Kim
Assistant Professor of Medicine (Cardiovascular Medicine)
Current Research and Scholarly InterestsThe lifetime risk of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD) is determined by the genetic makeup and exposure to modifiable risk factors. The Cardiovascular Link to Environmental ActioN (CLEAN) Lab is interested in understanding how various environmental pollutants (eg. tobacco, e-cigarettes, air pollution and wildfire) interact with genes to affect the transcriptome, epigenome, and eventually disease phenotype of CVD. The current focus is to investigate how different toxic exposures can adversely remodel the vascular wall leading to increased cardiac events. We intersect human genomic discoveries with animal models of disease, in-vitro and in-vivo systems of exposure, single-cell sequencing technologies to solve these questions. Additionally, we collaborate with various members of the Stanford community to develop biomarkers that will aid with detection and prognosis of CVD. We are passionate about the need to reduce the environmental effects on health through strong advocacy and outreach.
